Destiny JENOVA III: Origins (Chapter 15: Tifa and Loz)

Previously...

Rufus had successfully developed a cure for the new virus that was recently afoot. However, after Sephiroth being healed by the new remedy, he immediately knew of SAKUI's invasion of the kingdom and that JENOVA was somewhere out there trying to prevent him from hurting her children or throwing the kingdom into panic. Meanwhile, Loz decided to take a stop at JENOVA Church for the time being to wait for Sephieroth to recover.

Chapter 15: Tifa and Loz

(This section will focus on Loz as the speaker) I had decided to take a break from kingdom patrol and stop at Mother's Church to relax and let go. Yazoo was busy caring for Little Brother Kaibu until Little Sister recovered and could come back home. Several days had passed that quickly became a full week, and she was still stuck at the foundation as far as i knew. I wondered if Big Brother woke up yet. I sighed, then said "Lucky Yazoo.... he had a son with Little Sister after the last war ended. I've gotta do better, too. If only i knew who the one for me was..." I was thinking about one of Mother's rules in the kingdom concerning passing on our power in order to keep her legacy alive and improve future generations as much as possible. That was one thing Little Sister took very seriously and like Mother herself, encouraged. Having gone through the gruesome abyss and back during the war to reclaim the Planet, i didn't want to take that lightly either. Shaking my head, i walked into the pool of black water and cupped my hands in it, lifting them up to my face to drink it. I felt my JENOVA cells flare up, and smiled. It almost felt like Little Sister was right there saying to not lose hope, but i knew it was actually Mother smiling down at me. That feeling was always uplifting. Suddenly, i heard someone running behind me somewhere and turned to find out who it was. Before i could see much, i heard a woman's laughter and someone had lunged right into me before i could see who it was. Knocked into the new water, i sat up and said "Ow! What was that for?" I found myself glancing at Tifa who was standing in front of me laughing. Feeling confused, i asked "Whats so funny?" Tifa laughed some more and said "Whats wrong? Dont you know how to play?" Standing up, i said "Why would you want to play with me? We've barely done anything together!" Tifa smiled, then said "So what? Can't we have fun every now and then? Mother does want us to do that, yes?" Now i couldn't toss anything back to her. She spoke the truth, even if this did feel like a strange encounter to me. Without arguing further, i asked "What do you want to do?" She laughed some more, then got into her fighting stance and said "Train with me, Brother! I want to see how strong you are." I smiled and said "Say no more! I'll play with you if thats the game we're choosing!" Without exchanging anymore words, we quickly engaged in a back to back skirmish, our moves matching each others before long. I was impressed that she could even defy my weapon with such ease using only her fists: that wasn't something you saw very often in the family. Most of Mother's children used swords or gunblades similar to Yazoo's. Very few made other choices. But of course, all of us had different potential despite our weapons being identical; we all used different magic, different materia, and everything in between. We may look or seem the same, but our inner potential was never the same as anothers might be. After clashing for what seemed like forever, we each made one final close-up strike that knocked us both far away from each other. Tifa was beginning to gasp for air and grow tired. Even so, she smiled and said "Not bad, not bad, Brother... but let's see if you can keep up!" She jumped up, then seemed to vanish, but i quickly knew she was still nearby: i turned around and found her standing near the wall. I gasped and said "How the heck did you do that?!" She had moved at such speed, it was almost like she warped! She giggled and said "Catch me if you can, Brother!" She took off before even two seconds could pass. "You aren't the only one who can fly!" I bolted two metallic silver wings identical to Mother's from my back, then took off as fast as i could. I entered a time space through a wormhole and found myself chasing Tifa in a dimension where the ocean was the ceiling and the sky was the bottom, a deep sunset being the background. She laughed ahead of me and said "Impressive! Lets see what else you've got!" She seemed to move even faster, and i struggled to hit top speed in order to keep up. If Mother hadn't given me that materia on our last mission, keeping up with her would be impossible for me right now. I felt my expression harden as i continued to reach top speed, and said "She's so fast im not sure if i can keep up..! I need another plan before I lose her!" Tifa didn't show any wings, but she was still flying nonetheless. I wondered if she was the third one-winged angel but hid her wing to keep it a secret. Little Sister never hid her wing, but Big Brother often did unless he was in a major battle where he felt threatened. The only exception there was he would bolt it if he had to fly or felt otherwise. Tifa was slowly getting out of sight and i groaned and said "Im running out of time..! If she goes any faster i'll never catch up!" Tifa was insanely fast; so fast its unspeakable. I could pick up speed with my JENOVA cells, but nowhere even close to how she was right now. I couldn't believe how fast she was moving. Determined to redeem myself in this chase, i said "I have no choice; i have to teleport and catch her! If i dont, she'll get away." I focused on reaching top speed, and screamed my battle cry as i teleported in front of her and finally caught her. She was now in my arms, and to my surprise she was laughing like this was all a big joke. I then opened a wormhole and escaped through it, arriving back where we started: Mother's Church. Returning to my natural form, i was back on the ground with Tifa still in my arms. She smiled up at me in a strange but sweet way, and i found myself feeling happy and a bit embarrassed at the same time. Reaching her hand to my face, Tifa said "Loz, Brother..... that was amazing. I never thought id meet someone strong and fast enough to catch up to me like that." Slipping out of my arms, she stood in front of me smiling. I noticed her cheeks were a bit red as well. Trying to be kind, i rubbed the back of my head and said "Well, i did learn a lot during the Third Planet Race War, and trained even after peace was established, got a special materia from Mother as a gift, and...." I felt very tired but tried to hide it. Sister was happy and i didn't want to make her feel bad. Forcing my fatigue aside, i laughed under my breath and said "You were pretty fast, more than words can express... but that was still fun. I haven't had an intense battle like that since... the war ended." I knew the WEAPON quests were intense but left those out since the SAKUI operation was to be kept secret as Mother ordered. I didn't want to raise any question here or I might have to spill the beans on the mission. Tifa drew a bit closer to me, then said "Want to come see my house? If Mother has you on duty though, then its ok if you dont. I know she needs the guard on the lookout to keep chaos from breaking out." Suddenly, i said "Wait.... what?" Tifa smiled and said "Dont be so shy, Brother. I'm not asking for anything big or crazy, just a friendly visit." I looked her in the eye without saying anything, and nodded. I managed a faint smile, and she walked several steps ahead and said "I'll lead the way. Follow me." I nodded in agreement and said "Alright, but no super speed, ok?" She giggled and said "Oh, come on. You know i wont do that!" I laughed, and she joined in. We were both laughing as we left the area, heading for her house and enjoying the peace. I wondered if this whole thing was just a miraculous coincidence or if what happened today was Mother's will. Either way, i was still enjoying the day off and i knew i did a good thing making Sister Tifa smile and giving her a good day. Even though it all felt random at first, i knew it ended well for both of us.
