Hey guys, first off I wanna say sorry for dropping off the face of the earth. I have a cool reason as to why I hadn't been very active.
The last time I was really active here was the same time I was applying for a job a bunch of random spots. I eventually got picked up by the one place I love to shop at, Hot Topic!
I was worried about not getting hired because I don't have tattoos or that dark look that the workers usually have but the Manager said that we don't need the dark look, it's not a requirement to have the Emo or grunge look to work there.
You just need to know about the fandoms and or music being sold there. (You know if someone comes up to you asking about a flying blue police telephone booth you gotta know that it's Doctor Who. Or that 221 Baker Street is Sherlock) Hence why everyone has that gothic look, because the music sold there is the music they listen to.
I'll be handling sales for items based off Shows and Games. Because I was pretty familiar with the fandoms.
I thought it was going to be easy. Don't get me wrong it is easy when our generation comes in because they know what they're looking for. It's the adults that only know the music, shows, games, etc by hearsay.
I have a story already within my short time working there.
A mother came in looking for a My Little Pony shirt for her son. She was talking about a purple pony with a blonde mane and tail with bubbles on its flank, but she kept calling it Rainbow Dash. I'm not too familiar with the series but I know the names of characters and what they look like because most of my friends are Bronies. I knew she meant Derpy Hooves. I showed her a picture of the two ponies and told her the one she was looking for wasn't Rainbow Dash.
I found the shirt she was looking for and not much else exciting happen after that.
My hours are a bit weird because I'm a part timer due to me being disabled but I'm still enjoying my job. Not to mention I get 40% off anything in the store!
