I've been thinking about making this thread for a little while. I thought it'd be better to have everything in one place instead of starting a a thread every time something new is announced since new weapons and updates will be pushed consistently for at least a year. So far it seems we'll be getting a new weapon every week.

Here's everything released so far. I'll add any future updates in their individual posts.

New Weapons:

Inkbrush (available from 7/22)
Wst_Roller_BrushMini_00.png

Unlock Level: 5
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
2,600
Special Weapon: Splashdown
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Splashdown.png

Sub Weapon: Splat Bomb
30px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Splat_Bomb.png

An extremely mobile roller brush-type weapon. It's good at laying down ink, however its extremely short range hinders it in combat. It's better suited for sneak attacks rather than attacking head on.

Dualie Squelchers (available from 7/28)
Wst_Twins_Dual_00.png

Unlock Level: 12
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
9,800
Special Weapon: Tenta Missiles
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Tenta_Missiles.png

Sub Weapon: Point Sensor
30px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Point_Sensor.png

A long range set of Dualies. It provides good support thanks to being decent at inking the ground and pinpointing enemies with Point Sensor and Tenta Misiles. It has a reduced fire rate and dodge roll speed though.

Sploosh-o-Matic (available from 8/4)
Wst_Shooter_Short_00.png

Unlock Level: 10
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
9,700
Special Weapon: Splashdown
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Splashdown.png

Sub Weapon: Curling Bomb
30px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Curling_Bomb.png

An extremely short range shooter-type weapon. It has a very fast fire rate and good damage output. It's great at close quarters combat and destroying objects such as Sprinklers, Splash Walls and the Rainmaker's shield. You have to watch out for other shooters though, as this one has the shortest range of all (even shorter than Aerospray).
New Maps:
Shifty Station (available during Splatfests)
350px-S2_Stage_Mystery_Zone.jpg

A special map that appears only during Splatfests. This mysterious battleground changes its layout for every Splatfest so you never know how it'll be like during the next event!

  • Fixed a problem when displaying League Battles "Previous Records"

Results for the American Splatfest are in. And the winner is...

splatoon-2-splatfest-results-na-1-656x369.jpg
Team Mayo! (Boo!)
They barely made it by getting more wins from battles.

Head over to Inkopolis Square to get as many as 21 (Ketchup King/Queen) or 24 (Mayo King/Queen) Super Sea Snails. They can be used to upgrade your gear by adding extra ability slots (max 3).

Team Mayo wins there as well!

Mayo also won in Japan, which means that it reigns over the entire world :(

You can go collect your Super Sea Snails now.

Thanks for posting for me Marc! I'm on a trip at the moment and didn't have Internet for a couple days... Can't keep this going with my phone's limited data plan

Splat Brella (available from 8/11)
Wst_Umbrella_Normal_00.png

Unlock Level: 9
Special Weapon: Ink Storm
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Ink_Storm.png

Sub Weapon: Sprinkler
30px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Sprinkler.png

Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
8,300
An entirely new weapon type to Splatoon! Despite its looks, the Splat Brella is a shotgun-like weapon, shooting ink in a straight line. If you hold down the shoot button, the Brella will open, functioning as a shield for a short time. After that it separates from the base, leaving an ink trail behind. I wonder how this new weapon will affect the metagame...

Also, its variant, the Hero Splat Brella Replica is available as well! It's unlocked at the same level and shares the same Sub and Special weapons. It costs

9,000

The Classic Squiffer is now in the game!

Classic Squiffer (available from 8/18)
Wst_Charger_Quick_00.png

Unlock Level: 12
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
8,900
Special Weapon: Ink Armor
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Ink_Armor.png

Sub Weapon: Point Sensor
30px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Point_Sensor.png

The Classic Squiffer is a short range Charger-type weapon. It has the shortest range of all chargers, but has a very quick charge time to make up for it. The Point Sensor sub will help you track down your targets while Ink Armor will give you (and your teammates) a larger window of safety for aiming or to reposition when necessary.

Sorry for the late update! I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday... Anyways...

Splatoon 2 version 1.2 is out now! The patch notes are rather extensive so I'll link to them and simply highlight the most important additions. Official version history changelog.

Nintendo's UK YouTube channel has uploaded a video summarizing the biggest changes:

New Map! Manta Maria (available from 8/26)
800px-S2_MantaMaria.jpg

On this luxurious ship battles will be rather intense. You'd have to keep both your defensive and offensive game in top shape if you want to succeed, as flanks can go undetected easily thanks to the multitude of narrow passages and multiple levels. The 3 masts of the ship also offer some key vantage points.

Another addition is the release of the Bubble Blower
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Bubble_Blower.png
special weapon. We got a look at it in a Splatoon trailer before the game's official release. The first weapon to have this special will be the Forge Splattershot Pro, basically your reguar old Splattershot pro with a new coat of paint!

The way the Bubble Blower works is that it allows the user to summon 3 giant bubbles, which will burst in giant explosions when shot with your team's ink. The enemy can also shoot them with their own ink to make them disappear though, so be mindful of when you decide to use them!

Forge Splattershot Pro (available from 9/3)
Wst_Shooter_Expert_01.png

Unlock Level: 20
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
20,800
Special Weapon: Bubble Blower
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Bubble_Blower.png

Sub Weapon: Suction Bomb
30px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Suction_Bomb.png

In terms of the main weapon, it's the same as the Splattershot Pro: a long range shooter with decent fire rate and good accuracy, but very high ink consumption. The new kit of Suction Bombs and Bubble Blower gives the Forge many ways to inflict splash damage and pressure opponents when combined with its long range.

The final big update is a new map for Salmon Run! The Lost Outpost. It's available for local play as soon as you update the game to version 1.2, and has been added to the map rotation for online Salmon Run.
d1eaeaeb058cc142f4ed13da7c0142a9.jpg

The space in this map is very narrow, and there are plenty of grates that lead to the water if you're not careful about where you swim! You can use the house in the center of the map to hide, but you've got to keep in mind your quota.

A new weapon has been recently added to Splatoon 2!

Sloshing Machine (available from 8/25)
Wst_Slosher_Launcher_00.png

Unlock Level: 13
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
12,600
Special Weapon: Sting Ray
24px-S2_Weapon_Special_Sting_Ray.png

Sub Weapon: Autobomb
24px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Autobomb.png

The Sloshing Machine is very peculiar Slosher-type weapon. Instead of throwing out a wall of ink like the standard Slosher or the Tri-Slosher, the Sloshing Machine sends out a small, rotating blob of ink. It deals a small amount of splash damage in its trajectory similar to a Blaster, and if you manage to strike an enemy with the blob itself it'll deal a massive amount of damage! (not enough for a OHKO though) This is signaled by the same effect as landing a direct hit with a Blaster or a fully charged shot with a Charger. Its range is also slightly longer than the standard Slosher. Autobombs allow the Sloshing Machine to sniff out any nearby opponents, while the Sting Ray provides long range support!

Sorry for the very delayed update! I'll include everything that was released in this post and make sure to do a better job to keep things up to date.

First of all, Splatoon version 1.3.0 was released on September 7th, which includes a variety of changes. The most important of these were major rebalacing for every special weapon, and finally a nerf for the Tri Slosher. If you want to check everything in detail, you can red the patch notes here (scroll down and select Ver 1.3.0).

New Weapons

Custom Splattershot Jr. (available from 9/8)
Wst_Shooter_First_01.png

Unlock Level: 4
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
1,900
Special Weapon: Ink Storm
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Ink_Storm.png

Sub Wepon: Autobomb
24px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Autobomb.png

The Custom Splattershot Jr. behaves exactly as the vanilla version, a fast short range weapon with great inking capacity. This kit comes with Autobombs, which helps in detecting nearby enemies and potentially taking them out or giving you an opportunity to retreat. With the Ink Storm, the Splattershot Jr.'s inking ability is improved and also provides constant area of effect damage on opposing Inklings. Definitely a strong support weapon when used in the right way!

Heavy Splatling Deco (available from 9/15)
Wst_Spinner_Standard_01.png

Unlock Level: 12
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
9,600
Special Weapon: Bubble Blower
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Bubble_Blower.png

Sub Weapon: Splash Wall
24px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Splash_Wall.png

The Heavy Splatling weapon is a variation of the heavy Splatling, the main weapon behaves in the same way. It now comes equipped with the Splash Wall Sub Weapon, offering extra cover from enemy fire and a larger window to charge up your shots. It also comes with the new Bubble Blower, which synergizes well with the Splash Walls. Object Shredder might work particularly well with this weapon, helping it plow through enemy Splash Walls with more ease but most importantly letting it burst the Bubble Blower's bubbles much more quickly!

Tenta Brella (coming soon)
splatoon_2_tenta_brella_weapon_artwork.jpg

Unlock Level: ?
Price: ?
Special Weapon: ?
Sub Weapon: ?
The Tenta Brella is a new introduction to Brella-type weapons. It's unknown how its performance is compared to the Splat Brella in terms of fire rate, range and damage output, though it's safe to assume it'd have slightly slower fire rate, longer range and similar damage. The main draw of the Tenta Brella is the massive shield it's able to deploy, being more durable than te regular Splash Brella as well.
New Maps

Kelp Dome
Splatoon_Stage_Kelp_Dome.png

Returning from the original Splatoon it's a fan favorite, Kelp Dome! Like before, this map offers several ways to go around. You can take the lower routes to ink more ground for your team, or you can take the higher routes on the grates and try to sneak into enemy territory. Be careful while walking on the grates though, you're completely exposed to enemy fire and don't have any reliable way to refill your ink tank!

Coming soon... Snapper Canal
350px-Snapper_Canal_preview.jpg

Snapper Canal is a brand new map for Splatoon 2! The main feature of this map is the river that is running down the middle. The key to victory here is to take control of the center and suppress your enemies to make them retreat back to their base.
Salmon Run
300px-Salmon_Run_Rare_Weapon.png

A new secret weapon was added to Salmon Run, the Grizzco Blaster! This peculiar Blaster has a ridiculously fast fire rate, comparable to that of some regular shooters like the .52 Gal. This allows it do deal massive amounts splash damage to the Salmonids, which works great for clearing large hordes of enemies! This weapon is not obtainable for use in regular multiplayer matches and it is unknown if it'll stay Salmon Run exclusive.

New weapon coming TONIGHT!

Rapid Blaster Pro (available from 9/22)
Wst_Shooter_BlasterLightLong_00.png

Unlock Level: 22
Price:
20px-S_Icon_Cash.png
12,800
Special Weapon: Ink Storm
30px-S2_Weapon_Special_Ink_Storm.png

Sub Weapon: Toxic Mist
24px-S2_Weapon_Sub_Toxic_Mist.png

The Rapid Blaster Pro is a long range Blaster weapon. In many ways it's similar to the Rapid Blaster, having the same damage output (so it can't one shot), it's fire rate is ever so slightly slower and the blast radius a bit smaller but its range is much longer. In fact, it has the longest range out of every Blaster in the game! The Toxic Mist is useful to prevent enemies from escaping or approaching too much, giving you a nice chance to Splat them. The Ink Storm makes up for its relatively bad inking capacity and it deals passive damage which couples well with Blasters.
