I like the idea but the $7.99 price tag might be a deal breaker for me.

Features :
  • Text or voice chat with friends on your 3DS.
  • Participate in text based group chats with up to 10 people or voice group chats with up to 4 people.
  • Draw and send pictures to your friends (can be done while chatting).
  • Password protect feature included.
The application costs $7.99 US and will be available for NA 3DSs starting from November 20th, 2014. The application will also be available for Europe region 3DSs, however, no word has been given about its release date.

It looks pretty cool but I would have preferred if it was cheaper and it would have been nice if they offered some sort of "buy 1 and get one free for a friend" deal :3

What do you guys/gals think about Chat-A-Lot?

Well looky here. Swapnote but without sending pictures from the 3DS camera. Isn't this nice. Like you said Marc although it looks very useful and nice the price seems like quite a lot.

that is a bit pricy, to say the least, but seems like a decent app to have. I personally wouldn't buy it, although it's a nice idea.

3DS Pedia group chats anyone? they would be complete chaos! (if it allows online/friend list) :p

This is really cool! I would say it is really pricey...
I doubt that many people will use this app, so it will be hard to find anybody to chat with in the first place.
I like the idea though. If the price is $0.99-1.99 then I think it will be very reasonable.

Well, it's a PictoChat clone over Internet and with voice support, then ? I like the idea, but I'm in the same case as you, it's a bit too expensive, and the idea of only getting one copy is just ridiculous.

i woukd get it for 3.99 at the most. i woulkd oinly get it if the people who i play games woth have it, so we can voice chat mainly :3 it would be cool if you could voice chat while playing. overall, im not getting it. i would if it was cheaper thpugh edit: sorry for typos

so is this eshop now

I like the idea but I hate the looks and the price. Why can't we use our mii as avatar? Why the stupid panda? :panda: But most of all; why doesn't the 3ds come with an alike app? The answer is; because it is made for gaming, for chatting we got phones and computers. It should not become a smartphone and except from that this app would only be useful to chat with people you already know in which case you probably have their phone number or 3dspedia name. So while I like the idea of more communication possibilities for the 3ds I think that an expensive app is not the way it should be. (It would be fun to be able to send your mii with a message to your friends plaza...) Then again I have a general dislikes for apps that try to exploit human communication.:sorry:

Should be a free app. I mean they can introduce In-app purchasing or whatever but the price should be Zero considering it's just a messenger.

I think it should be a free app like swapnote was but it looks quite interesting and fun talking to your friends from far away and sending spectacular in game moments with your friends.

An app that offers slightly more functionality than Swapnote for infinity the price.

:panda:

It's cool, but too expensive; given how others are saying the same thing I doubt there'd be many friends to talk to anyway.

Wow, this looks like a pretty cool app. Although, it is too expensive. It costs 8 bucks to make a group chat, avatar, and draw pictures? That doesn't seem very fair .-.

I personally wouldn't buy it, and I don't think that other people would buy it either, due to the high price.

I knew that, but that doesn't change the fact that most of the functions are the same.
