Thank you for posting this! I was really curious whether the music was any good and they do not have any previews for that. (Why not?!) most of them actually seem to be quite annoying...
But I didn't by a theme so that's okay. I hope there will be a pokémon x or a Kid Icarus theme. That would e awesome. (In particular Kid Icarus, that game features some awesome music too so my home menu would be one great party!) The jumping NES mario is pretty sweet.
What I think of the themes: Awesome. Very, very awesome. But also quite expensive. 1,99 or at least 0,99 just for a theme seems like quite a lot. I also dislike most of the music. I do like the NES mario because the music is nice and he jumps when you scroll (gotta love that coin sound), I like both the Mario Characters-sets (I think the stamped Felt one looks more bad*ss but the Branded Wood one has quite a peaceful image), the Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds: Two Worlds is just plain beautiful (to my shame I have not played any game in the series) and last but not least on the liked themes-list: Mighty Mushrooms for both looks and music.
At the moment I use the Simple Black theme. I think that one might come handy too when you open up your 3ds in a dim-lit room. (No more flash of white light that scorches your eye! Yay!
) I tried the blue one too but I didn't like the looks. Somehow it looked a bit cheap. (Well, that's my opinion...)
I really hope for a Kid Icarus theme (the game has both lovely looks and music so that should be a really nice theme) and a Pokémon X theme (I think that would be more of the elegant type theme as Xerneas is one elegant poke.)

I'll be honest. Browsing through the themes on my 3DS was hell. It was slow as a turtle so this video helps me out a lot .-.
The Yoshi theme looks sexy. It's probably the only paid theme that I'd be willing to spend money on. The Zelda and Paper Mario themes also aren't that bad. They don't shout "buy me now" to me though,
PS. I'm currently using the free blue theme and loving it ^.^ (might buy and upgrade to the Yoshi one later).

I think the themes are a great concept. Unfortunately, they are way too expensive. $2 to slightly improve the 30 seconds per day I spend selecting games to play. This would be great if they gave them free when you buy games. You could get a virtual console game for 3 times the price. It probably took more effort to put the game on virtual console than to create the theme.

Actually, after having a second look I decided to purchase the Zelda theme. I don't really like the paper Link background but I'm glad you can move your icons (games and apps) to the right so that you see an image of Link, Zelda and the castle instead :
I really do hope they release more. The Azure Striker Gunvolt theme that I saw is gorgeous,
