SSB i need some help in n64 version

ok so i have played the game a lot but i can never unlock and more charecters than jigly puff. how do i unlock them? i have tried playing at harder levels but i still cant unlock any more. can you guys help

Here's what I gathered from an internet source. So basically you have to do a variety of challenges to get it done.

Jigglypuff--Finish one player mode on any difficulty with any amount of lives and defeat him when challenged

Captain Falcon--Finish one player mode in 20 minutes and defeat him when challenged

Ness--Finish one player mode on Normal with 3 lives and no continues, and defeat him when challenged

Luigi--Finish the target tests for all of the first 8 characters, unlockable characters don't count and defeat him when challenged

thank you for the help naagza. also where did you get this? also how do i know what time i compleated it all? i dont realy see i counter on the screen. anyway thanks for the help.

There isn't a time counter so you'll just have to keep track of the time on your own. Also, I got this all off of Google lol It really isn't that hard to look up this info.
