No doubt the Splatfests have been fun in the previous game, from simple things such as Hamburgers vs Hotdogs to weirder choices like Spongebob vs Patrick. These are fun events for people to battle it out over which of the 2 choices is better, but for as fun as they have been, they never felt that special. Sure they happened once in a while but beyond getting a themed Teeshirt(Until the event was over in which case you had to return it) Nothing really stood out about these events from normal multiplayer. That was until Splatoon 2 gave is Mayo vs Ketchup.
This event actually has a neat little detail about it. This time around the ink used will be the same color as either Mayo or Ketchup, which ever side you chose. Which is a fun little detail, making this splatfest actually feel special in its presentation, offering something you can't get in normal multiplayer. This is actually really good news the more you think about it. This shows that Splatoon 2 will be offering more to its splatfests than just a normal Tee shirt. Perhaps each splatfest will come with its own limited edition color to ink the field with, maybe some splat fests will come with an exclusive stage themed around the event, maybe even exclusive weapons can be unlocked with how many points you earn in the event. The options are limitless, and this shows signs of much greater Splatfests in the future.
