As you know Miiverse is finally coming for the 3DS on December! But not everything is good news.
A representative of Nintendo commented that the Social Network will have some limitations in the 3DS version .

In the 3DS version we won't be able to send personal messages , as well as the basic characteristic of this type of social network: add friends. I suppose this desicion was taken after the problem they had with Swapnote.

I hope Nintendo adds this functions on the future...

I know, what's the point of a Social Network if we can't add friends?

Wow, I sure hope that they add that feature soon, it will be very lame without being able to exchange messages with friends, what kind of social feature is Nintendo really providing then, :(

Most social networks have restriction for the user, at least they have to be thirteen years old. Why don't Ninty work with this model? Make every children under 13 can't download Miiverse (except those kids don't use their real age « but this issue can be handled by their parents).

its a system update....

Maybe this is intentional. Remember Nintendo needs more Wii U users

I doubt the lack of being able to add friends on miiverse would get people to buy the wii u

Oh, sorry.
But I think the restriction is important, because Miiverse is a social network. By Ninty's limitation, Miiverse would be Miialone -____-

@Ming-with-numbers has been straight-up straightforward on this. I liked her first two responses very much :D

If we can't even add friends or PM them, how does it even qualify as a semi-functional app even? Curse that 12-year-old girl who is the root of every 3DS owner's suffering.

I hope the PC version (if they plan on adding that even) has those features.

It would be cool the PC version of eShop too.

Now you guys, I just sent Nintendo a message, and they were kind enough to reply, here it is :
Hello Reece,

Thanks for writing. It's apparent by your email that you're a big Nintendo fan, and it's great to hear that you're looking forward to accessing Miiverse on your Nintendo 3DS. At this time, we don't have any plans to allow the Friend Request function or exchange of messages between Friends on Miiverse for the Nintendo 3DS systems. However, I will forward your interest in such a feature to the other departments here at Nintendo.

Ultimately, the decision of what to include in an application rests solely with the development team, so there's no way we can say what will or won't be included in the final product. Rest assured, however, that those who are currently designing and programming Miiverse for the Nintendo 3DS systems are among the best in the industry, tasked with creating the most enjoyable experience possible.

As we get closer to the release of Miiverse for the Nintendo 3DS systems, you can count on more information being revealed at our website (www.nintendo.com). Stay tuned!

Sincerely,

T. J. Geise
Nintendo of America Inc.

So yeah, its not really the final decision, and they look like they are working really hard towards it, I guess we will have to wait and see what the outcome may be.

Excellent news (for the reply)... But:
1. Says Nintendo isn't interested on that
2. Says ultimately the development team doesn't allow that

:D

Contacting Nintendo was always pointless for me. It always went like this:

Me: Is?
Nintendo: No.
Me, Rebuttal: OK, damn.

:p
