So as we all know, the name of the newer model of the Nintendo 3DS isn't as....creative as it could be. That being said, if the responsibility was in your hands, what would you name the newest addition of the 3DS Family? I would name it the 3DS Advanced because I am a GBA fanboy at heart. Your turn!

The New3DS is not a very cool name you are right and 3DSAdvanced is kinda long but it does sound cool. Here are some ideas i have: The 3dsU and 3dsPro, I think nintendo did N3DS because they are working "more on games and not on names" :p (hey that rhymes)

@3dsatackman lol yeah, that's true. 3DSPro soundes pretty cool and it's short but sweet!

3DSi (along with 3DSi XL) would make sense, judging by the DS' naming patterns. If not, go with Super 3DS (along with Super 3DS XL) because that sounds awesome and is a bit of a throwback to the SNES.

I would keep the "3DS"-part in the name because it still belongs to that part of the DS family but "New" is a horrible prefix. Would the next one be the Newer3DS? I like the name 3DSAdvanced an 3DSi more than 3DSPro or 3DSU since "U" sounded quite stupid when they added it to Wii already and Pro sounds a bit cheap to me. I'd like to propose a name like 3DS-Edge or 3Ds-Dawn because I that sounds rather nice. :p It also makes it sounds more like a new console instead of emphasizing on the fact that it is another member of the DS family.

This video emphasises how bad the "New" prefix is quite well, and it made me laugh quite a lot... IMO, a small letter on the end along the lines of "3DSi" is best, because "Edge" and "Dawn" sound like potential awesome new Nintendo console names, they're quite simply too good to just be for upgraded models of an existing hardware. :p

What about naming it like : Nintendo 3ds 2 and Nintendo 3ds xl 2, it is kind of a long name isn't it? Does it remind you of something? Of course this is not as creative as the actual name, but perhaps it could improve even more the 3ds sales haha

Hey, I thought of that name earlier. I made a drawing of my dream 3ds in one of my rough notebooks and the new 3ds has bought most of it (like coloured buttons, l2 and r2 buttons which became ZL and ZR and many more things came. The only thing is that they still didn't make the lower screen 3d

Whatever they should have named this new 3ds, they shouldn't have given it the title "new". When people say that they are buying a new 3ds, people are often confused if he is talking of an original 3ds or the new one.

I agree, @Charizard1710.

Person 1: "Guess what? I bought a new 3DS!"
Person 2: "Nice! Is it a new new 3DS, or an old new 3DS?"

...this might get a bit confusing.

Still better than TI calculator names.
The TI 82 is very old. The TI 82 Stats.fr is a lot closer to the TI 83 than to the TI 82. The TI 83+ is closer to the TI 84+ than to the TI 83. The TI 83+.fr from 2013 is in fact a TI 84+SE. and the TI 82+ is a 83+.

But yeah, "new 3DS" is ridiculous for the reason mentionned by Lexi.D. They should have called it 3DS2 or 3DS+ or 3DSwhatever but not "new 3DS". I mean, is it new or is it a 3DS ? Can't tell by the name.

Some names that I'd like:

- 3DS + (Plus)
- Super 3DS
- 3DS Color (new colored buttons, yuppieee!)
- 3DS Pro
- 3DS Lite

Worse name than "new" could be "X" or "Excel".

Imagine:
- I bought a 3DS XXL!

- I bought a 3DS EXCEL XL!

Oh, let's hope Nintendo never reaches that point!

It's horrible because whenever I go on Google and search up new 3ds exclusive games to find out what games will be exclusive for the new 3ds it's always like New upcoming 3ds games which gets on my nerves :/ was nintendo actually thinking this would be a good name or could they literally not think of something better than this name.

how about 3DS PRO and 3DS PRO XL

How does 3DS SP sound? (inspiration from the great GBA SP). Ugh...lame. OK, perhaps 3DS Exp? (as in experienced) I'll stop now. xD

I like the idea of 3DS Pro, it would really suit the new handheld. ^.^

I think we can all agree than New 3DS is about the worst name they could have picked (if you don't count anything vulgar that is).

New nintendo 3ds isn't just an odd name, it is a confusing name too! When I first heard about the new nintendo 3ds, I thought they were referring to the original 3ds, saying that it is a new release. I would name it (same) 3ds advanced
