Yes, it's true. Nintendo has stopped the SpotPass feature of Swapnote on the Nintendo 3DS. That means it's no longer possible to send your 3DS contacts stylus-drawn content with a 3DS over Wi-Fi.

What are your thoughts?

Oh, really? So I cannot send, like, a Merry Christmas message to a distant friend using Swapnote? How horrible :( Swapnote is an alternative and cute method to send greetings. I am really sad to know this.

The last time Nikki sent me a special note was on October 24th, and I got her vessel (her Mii), too.

I initially thought that, and I really hope MiiVerse do comes, but they didn't simply stopped it to give way to that. If taht ahd been the cas ethey would had gave us a longer period to prepare and probably a teaser letter about it.

The reason Nintendo gave to stop the service so abruptly is that it was being severely misused and minors were in risk in getting inappropriate stuff with the drawings and pictures. Something big must had accumulated for such a quick reaction and short notice. I basically got the notification some hours after the service stopped.

You can read here a copy of the notification.
That's basically Nintendo's statement on the matter.

So this is temporal or permanent?

I believe it is permanent.

Also, I'm not very hurt by this news. I never really liked Swapnote at all.

Already knew. It will be for PC and mobiles.
I wish they create account system for eShop, so if you broke your 3DS you don't lose yours games

That is actually a great idea, but some people might misuse it like you typed in your account information at your friend's house so he can download all the games that you paid for on his system, that kinda seems harsh to Nintendo, if the idea is incorporated well like having many restrictions, it will work perfectly, I think that Nintendo should let us use back Swapnote but instead put Parental Guidance, I mean their is no way to escape from perverts online that is gonna send you messages on an online feature app, and I don't want to go back to Pictochat, so if they inputted some real Parental Guidance into Swapnote/MiiVerse it will be better, right ?

They can put a limit of consoles. For example, two.

There's no need. Sony is actually using this way.

You can send Sony a message, no I was talking bout a feedback message.

Wow...
It's not like I'd been getting or sending a lot of Swapnotes, actually barely any at all - I'm forever alone in that respect :p - but I didn't think they'd stop it altogether. Hope MiiVerse comes in soon.

This isn't stopped at all. Street pass notes still working.

Why did they do it? I mean we can't send the letters to strangers anyway so if you don't want receive letters from someone just delete their friend code instead of killing a cool feature off from a service. This is stupid.

Your words are very wise. No one forced these people to add these perverted people. They did and they got what was coming for them...

It is so unfair to people who haven't been abusing the purpose of Swapnote, but doesn't the Wii U, Mii Verse can be abused also, its something they can't run from ,I think, maybe they should put more restrictions or Parental Guidance towards the application.

More parental restrictions won't change the fact that people are adding these perverted people when they have the option not to do so.

True, I don't know I was throwing out a suggestion, maybe Nintendo can incorporate some kinda email function, that when a perv send your child a swap note, the parent can see it from their email, like Gmail, or something, sounds complicated to incorporate though
