ok, so i recently discovered the secret to beating chompers in bravely second. you can also do this in the demo to grind as well; up to you. thats actually when i first did it: in the demo. i havent done it in the full game yet, cuz i found an easier way to grind. so anyway, i'll start from the beginning.

while i was playing the demo last friday (the day before i bought the full game from the eshop; and bought my husband an eshop card so he could get it too), i actually found the spot where chompers are by accident. but, there was a big problem: i was like lv. 17 and my attacks did absolutely nothing. literally; every time i hit them, zero. and when they hit me, like 90-150. it was like the same thing over and over again. the end result was they all escaped, and the battle ended with all of my people poisoned and low hp. the first thing i told myself was "this is impossible. like, literally: its impossible!" and then i thought "man...whats the point of putting them in the game if they're friggin impossible to beat? it just doesnt add up. there's gotta be some way to beat them. there has to be. but i know i'll never figure it out...goddang it..." i really wanted to beat them. i refused to give up. and i knew nintendo wouldnt put them in the game if there was no possible way to beat them. they might make it hard; but never impossible. because that just wouldnt be fair. i tried everything i knew. but nothing was working.

i spent like 4 hours that night trying to figure it out. no luck. i wasted my night getting nowhere. it came down to only one choice for me--no, two choices for me: i could give up and forget about it, or i could ask my husband for help. cuz i knew he's probably done it many times. and he plays on hard. i lowered myself to casual just to beat them and still couldnt. my husband knows his way around video games; he's as flawless as a god when it comes to that: never fails to beat anything on a game. there was only 1 problem: i gave him $8000 cuz he wanted to play poker at the casino. and it was 6am, and he was still there. when i give him money for that, he spends hours on hours doing that. but he often brings back loads of cash which pleases me. ^^ he had literally spent the whole night there. and still wasnt back. i really didnt wanna bother him, but i called him with my cellphone anyway. he answered quickly and said "yeah, babe? need something?" i sighed, feeling bad about calling him considering the situation, then said "im really, really sorry about calling you right now, its just that i really am stuck on bravely second again, and i need your help very badly. i've been trying to beat these things for 4 hours, and--" he interrupted me and said "whoa, whoa! slow down, babe." he laughed, then continued, saying "dont feel bad about calling me, sweets. im always willing to help you. so...whats the matter?" then, i said "im trying to find a way to beat chompers in the bravely second demo. but i've tried everything, and literally nothing works. i even lowered myself to casual and still cant do it. i've spent 4 hours trying to figure it out, and got nowhere. i really need help. is it even possible to beat them?" he laughed and said "of course it is. but there are certain things you need to know about chompers. the most notable things about them is their high defense, and also high magic defense. of course, they also have a weakness: its lightning." then i said "i used lightning on them and it did nothing..." then he said "sweets, what you need to do is find a way to cast lightning as a physical attack, not just as is. if you cast it as is, thats what will happen because of their magic defense, combine with their defense. so, this leaves you with two options: you can use warhead and choose thunderhead, or you can choose lightning and cast it with hammer. your best option is using warhead, though, so try that, ok? all you have to do is get the hawkeye asterisk to lv. 4. then you can use it. that should all solve your problem, babe." i smiled and said "yay! thanks, dear!" he laughed and said "no problem. im always happy to help, babe." then i asked him "hey, how much have you won this time?" he laughed and said "a whole boatload: i've gotten a lot of people walking away from the table, as usual. maybe like 500k." i laughed, then said "i dont know how you do it, dear. you always bring back a lot when i give you money for poker! not to say i dont have a lot already, of course. you know about my background." then he said "you want it when i come back, babe?" i then said "no,no! you keep it, dear. you need it more than i do." i giggled, then he said "but....you gave me the money to come here. you sure, princess?" i laughed playfully, then said "of course! the amount i gave you wasnt much out of my pocket, dear. the rest of that you got yourself. you deserve it, dear; you dont have to give it to me." then he said "aww, thanks, sweets. i gotta get moving, though. everyone else at the table is waiting for me to take my turn; sorry." i laughed and then we both said bye to each other.

so, i tried what he said to beat the chompers, and it was actually working! and working well, too. i beat as many as 4 with an encounter of 6. 2 of them fled. but i still got like 300+ pg, more than 100exp, and i think like 50jp. i was happy: i finally got them! like i said, i was like lv. 17 or 16 (cant remember what i wrote, so forgive me if thats wrong), and when i tried his idea, it worked flawlessly. might work fine on normal, too; not sure. i dont know if my husband tried this on hard or not; i never saw him do it, and he never told me if he did it on hard, either. but he always makes it as hard as possible when he plays games, so i know he was playing on hard when he started the demo, cuz he told me he planned to play on hard. but i dont know if he's battled chompers on hard. i bet he could do it; no doubt there. but i dont know if he has. well, anyways....just thought i'd share that secret with you guys, since i imagine most people dont know how to beat them, or its too hard to beat them. like i said, i spent 4 hours trying before i decided it was time to ask for help. i dont know why i waited so long. i have a way of doing that with games, though. spending hours trying to beat something, until i finally decide its time to get help, lol. classic me for you. ^^
