Best Yanmega EX Decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket

Yanmega is my favorite Pokemon, so I had to make a deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket with it. It packs a punch with its 120 damage attack and can be a nightmare to Darkrai EX decks because of its grass-type weakness (one Air Slash from Yanmega EX can OHKO a Darkrai EX).

Yanmega EX and Dialga EX

Yanmega EX and Dialga EX deck

This deck consists of:

  • Yanma x 2
  • Yanmega EX x 2
  • Dialga EX x 2
  • Professor’s Research x 2
  • Poké Ball x 2
  • Sabrina x 1
  • Erika x 1
  • Dawn x 1
  • Cyrus x 1
  • Leaf x 1
  • Pokémon Communication x 1
  • Potion x 1
  • X Speed x 1
  • Giant Cape x 1
  • Rocky Helmet x 1

The lack of Pokemon in this deck helps with drawing the crucial cards earlier and more easily. Dialga EX is used to provide Yanmega EX with energy to pull off its Air Slash attack. I’ve found that in some situations, Dawn has come in handy to get Dialga EX with its 4th energy to use its 100 damage attack.

This deck isn’t set in stone. Swap cards with what you think would fit your play style better. I preferred a Potion over two Erikas to heal Dialga EX with Giant Cape. Sometimes, I’d use Rocky Helmet to reduce some HP early in the game from basic Pokemon.

Yanmega EX and Leafeon EX

Another great Pokemon that works well with Yanmega EX is Leafeon EX. Similar to Dialga EX, Leafeon EX uses its Forest Breath ability to provide Yanmega EX with a free grass energy each turn. Once Yanmega EX is fully charged, it can begin to damage the enemy Pokemon with its 120 damage Air Slash attack.

Yanmega EX and Leafeon EX deck

This deck consists of:

  • Yanma x 2
  • Yanmega EX x 2
  • Eevee x 2
  • Leafeon EX x 2
  • Poké Ball x 2
  • Giant Cape x 2
  • Professor’s Research x 2
  • Erika x 2
  • Pokémon Communication x 1
  • Sabrina x 1
  • 2 extra cards of your choice (eg. X Speed or Irida)

You can run a water energy deck and swap out 2 cards for Irida for major healing. Yanmega EX works with water energy since its attack requires colorless energy. Leafeon EX doesn’t need to attack in most cases and is regularly only used as a source to provide Yanmega EX with energy to attack.

X Speed is great to have in this deck because it allows Leafeon EX to retreat to the bench without wasting an energy, but I think I’m leaning more towards two Iridas for long-term healing with Giant Cape and Erika. Just make sure to assign your deck with water energy instead of grass.
