Fire Emblem : Awakening is a turn based tactical role-playing video game for the Nintendo 3DS. The game was developed by Intelligent Systems, and is the thirteenth Fire Emblem game in the series. The game is the 2nd Nintendo 3DS game that takes advantage of paid downloadable content (DLC).

During the gameplay, characters must move into position to attack an enemy or defend against an attack. The game features health points for characters which are subtracted based on the damage the character receives, and a class system so that different characters posses different skills, strengths, and weaknesses. In addition, a new optional Dual Strike attack has been introduced which can be executed with a supporting character. Dual Guard, a defensive technique which cancels out an enemy’s attack, is also another handy technique that characters can perform.
