It was 1st day of 1st grade and I had just met my new teacher. Her name was Mrs. Martin and she was a stern hag of a women in her early 30s. My first impression of her was one of happiness. My kindergarten teacher was so nice and I got the feeling that Mrs. Martin would be as well. In the next coming month I would learn that this was a filthy lie.
. A month in and I, along with my other classmates, had been seeing more and more of Mrs. Martins true colors coming through. She was a beast of a woman. Not in a appearance but in attitude and friendliness. Her skinny frame and small stature might fool you into thinking that she was more reserved and quiet but when in the classroom she would literally explode on us. Any small thing she didn't like was met with yelling and punishment. My previous drill sergeants were never this cantankerous.
. I pushed through first grade at a steady pace. Along the way I was learning basic arithmetic and reading comprehension. I had only mad a few new friends by the time the middle of the semester came around. One of which was a kid named Allen. Allen was a pretty cool dude. We would often draw pictures of Deku Link and end up fighting over who's was the best one which as might guess caused Mrs. Miles to flip her top.
. It was at this point in time where I got into my first real fight. The situation was that this annoying kid, Andrew, was messin with Allen. Andrew was this big headed problem child who got on everyone's nerves. As soon as I heard that my friend was in trouble I ran to his aid. Andrew was making fun of Allens drawing in the classroom. I watched as Andrews words soon began to make him tear up. Unfortunately the teacher was out on one of her frequent bathroom breaks and we were left to deal out justice by ourselves.
Seeing my friends tears made my face grow hot and my bulging muscles start to convulse. I was about to punch the crap out of him. I said nothing and went straight for the throat punch. Andrew dodged surprisingly and struck me on the side of the face with an open palm. I staggered for a bit then recovered with a punch to the nose. Blood began to pour from his ugly pig nose and soon thereafter tears from his eyes. It was at this point when the teacher had arrived from her bathroom break. She saw blood and before you could say Barney the dinosaur I was in the principals office.
. Seeing as I was a model student and soldier up until this incident I was let off with 3 days detention. The following months of first grade were filled with general normalcy with the occasional outburst from Andrew. Before I knew it first grade was over and I was soon headed to 2nd grade the following Fall. One of the single most traumatizing moments of my academic career.
