Once again, Rufus Shinra had intentions of exploiting Kadaj's powers with the desire to use them for himself and his dirty organization. Both Tifa Lockheart and Vincent Valentine did not like Rufus very much and reluctantly decided to work with him despite his ill intentions. Rufus had already revealed enough about his goals that Tifa began feeling bad for the horrible fate Kadaj had should he succeed in all he spoke of. Little had they known, the darkest parts of Rufus's intentions had yet to be revealed.
Chapter 11: Shinra's Dastardly Plot
(This section will focus on Tifa as the speaker) For some reason, trying to sleep last night was very difficult. i didn't have any nightmares, but staying asleep was still hard. i couldn't figure out why, but morning had still come despite a difficult night. i got out of bed and noticed Vincent was still sleeping on the other side of the side of the room in the other bed there was. i sighed and thought oh my god... even Vincent can sleep after listening to all those horrible things Rufus said he would do last night? i couldn't get any of it out of my head... lucky guy... i turned the other way, still mentally drifting and trying to figure out why id been so disturbed by all of what Rufus told us last night. JENOVA and her remnants were always the world's enemies... or at least id believed that all this time. but was that really true? Or is it Shinra Company who is responsible for everything JENOVA, Sephiroth, and the rest of her offspring did over the years? i wasnt sure anymore. i never truly realized how evil Shinra Company was until yesterday during our conversation with Rufus. that man is so sick and depraved i still can't believe it. JENOVA hated Shinra, and likewise, Sephiroth also did. Her remnants act as Sephiroth separated into lesser beings identical in nature, so they also hate Shinra. Shinra Company may be what created them, but they felt abused by Shinra's dirty work, research, and experiments. They might be experiments made by Shinra, but theyre still living beings. Every living being on this planet has feelings and completely human emotions, whether theyre human or an alien race like JENOVA and her kids. People dont become vengeful and consumed with hatred for no reason. Does Rufus even think about any of these things? Or does he only look at the selfish gain he will have along with the profit his company has from what he sets in motion? i didnt know the answer to that anymore. i turned back to Vincent who was still sleeping like there was tomorrow. i decided to leave the room and let him rest so i could meet with Rufus in his office on the top floor, where that large computer system is that he showed us yesterday. once i arrived there, i quickly noticed Rufus was already typing away on that big keyboard of his. he seemed strangely engrossed in typing and appeared to have his gaze on what i thought was a smaller screen below the large one that was easily visible. i walked in his direction and spoke first and said "So what are we doing today?" Rufus immediately noticed i was behind him, and replied as he continued typing "Nothing yet. First, i need to tell you guys what i want to accomplish in order to stop JENOVA from activating the Infinite Reunion." I spoke next and said "And you have a quick fix for that?" he knew i was being sarcastic and said "It's not a quick and easy job, you know that... nothing is when it comes to them. but i do have some ideas." i sighed and said "Go on..." Rufus was silent for a while and continued typing away on his computer, then stopped and said "Theres something i haven't told you and Vincent about the new larva. She was born in a mysterious way im still investigating and trying to decode... and that unknown process changed the way she fully blooms out of larval form. Based on observations reported from my employees, this has changed with time but the more recent reports ive received is that Kadaj's form changes based on how she feels emotionally. The more she feels endangered or put under extreme stress, the more powerful she becomes in the heat of that moment. At maximum adrenaline levels, she takes the feminine form of Sephiroth and has a sudden fusion with JENOVA simultaneously, causing her JENOVA cells to be exceptionally stronger and multiply within seconds. As a result, her overall power in such a moment is noticeably greater than under normal conditions. I have never seen anyone strong enough to defeat her when she reaches maximum adrenaline levels.... such power..." Once again, i felt an ill vibe coming from Rufus. i quickly replied and said "But can't she die if she is pushed to that extreme?" Rufus nodded and said "Of course she can. JENOVA's kids run on her cells; they can't exist without them. When those run out, they perish." i began to feel progressively worse as this conversation continued, but said "Where are you going with all of this?" Rufus paused briefly then said "What im saying is i want to exploit that ability to force her to change form, take her katana, and destroy the JENOVA Stone Tablet." I replied and said "How do you intend to successfully get her that far?" Rufus said "Its not hard. I can easily design a machine capable of holding even someone of her strength and use the device to induce intense adrenaline." i suddenly fell speechless by all of what Rufus was telling me. Everything he spoke of was callously selfish and cruel beyond description. I suddenly realized who this horrible guy really was, and he was something far worse than JENOVA and her children. i suddenly decided to speak against this freak and said "Thats horrible! You're going to put a poor teenage girl like Kadaj under all of that meaningless pain just for your own selfish gain?" Rufus laughed and said "What difference does it make for us? If i extract her energy we will beat JENOVA and her remnants with no trouble! You said so yourself the world is better off without them, did you not?" I quickly grew firm and replied "Set my past statements aside here, Rufus Shinra. What youre trying to do is something even JENOVA would never do: toy with life after life for your own sick little benefit. Youre aiming to do young Kadaj extreme hurt that might even kill her just to take her powers for yourself. You have feelings, do you not? Isnt she a living being too? Yet you think nothing of abusing her like that. You cant just toy with someone's life like that, you monster!" Rufus laughed again, then said "Feelings? You cant be serious, are you? How can someone who is nothing but an experiment have any feelings?" That was when i lost it. Unable to bear Rufus's sick attitude and deeds, i lashed out and delivered a hard punch to his face. He was caught off guard and knocked back from my attack. He sat up and said "Hey! Dont you want to stop them?" I replied with pure intent and said "No. I want to stop you, Rufus. You just made me aware that youre the cause of all this chaos--NOT JENOVA or anyone she gave birth to. The only way to save the planet is by defeating you, Mr. Shinra! Ive never seen anyone more callous than you are, and thats plenty to tell me you are real villain--not JENOVA. Im done working with you, Rufus. Right here and right now. I wont work for anyone as ill-minded as you, Rufus!" That was when i turned around and walked away without saying another word to him. I immediately made haste to inform Vincent of everything Rufus told me about, hoping he would agree to go with me and leave this place. Even if he refused, i knew who the real bad guy was now. And it was not JENOVA and never was, nor was Sephiroth the truly evil one; it was Shinra Company the entire time that was responsible for everything here. It wasnt until now i knew this was true from day one. But in order to successfully defeat Shinra Company and Rufus along with it, there was only one thing left to do: confront JENOVA and her children and offer to help them bring down Shinra Company together. The only problem left otherwise was trying to convince them my intentions are pure. But i had no choice but to try and hope for the best. I just couldn't allow myself to work with somebody as callous as Rufus Shinra. He was worse than JENOVA by a huge margin and that was loud and clear. I couldn't imagine a person being worse than he was and probably never would. This was the day i finally realized why JENOVA and Sephiroth acted the way they did all these years, and it was no fault of theirs. It was finally time to bring down the real enemy: Shinra Company.
