Tifa had realized that it was not JENOVA and her children who were responsible for the many years of chaos among Shinra, but Shinra Company at fault instead. Despite not liking either side of the war, she decided to bond with JENOVA and her remnants feeling horribly sickened and disgusted by how rotten Rufus Shinra and his dirty company really were. After listening to Rufus speak of all the horrible things he intended to do to Kadaj at her expense and his benefit, she couldn't bear the idea of being on his side of the fight anymore. Though Vincent had decided to go his own way instead of siding with her, Tifa continued to focus her attention on finding JENOVA and warning her of the horrendous danger Kadaj was in. Barely escaping Shinra Headquarters unscathed, Tifa made haste to reach the Mako Reactor and find JENOVA before any of Shinra's troops could do her or even young Kadaj any harm.
Chapter 12: A Brother's Heart
(The following will focus back on Kadaj as the speaker) I had finally finished revamping the church as Mother requested of me on this mission. I wasnt expecting a job this easy to be my next mission from Mother, but i was very happy to do it. I redesigned the entire church so that it would reflect Mother's image and her beauty; the statues were now of her in each of her varying forms, i used my JENOVA cells to turn all the flowers into black roses, and the water here was now also purified with Mother's cells. What i didn't understand though was why i was given this task. But rather than being difficult i was one to just obey rather than question or argue when Mother assigned me and my gang any work at all. I had also left an extra surprise for Mother in the center of the church: a large and beautiful statue of her in her natural form she always appears to us in. I felt the desire to do more here, but i heard a shout across the area and turned to face Brother Yazoo gazing at me. He quickly ran in my direction, laughing and smiling as though he was rather happy to see me or full of energy, more so than usual. I couldn't help but smile in return, and i said "Did something happen? Mother said i had to do this mission alone so we don't draw too much attention... and where is Loz?" Yazoo laughed a bit more, then said "He's back at territory trying to train Young Brother Sulbio. Dont worry though, he isnt causing problems." I then nodded and said "But why did you come here? I mean, im not saying its bad you came here, but--" I suddenly noticed Yazoo gazing at me in a rather sweet manner. I then thought, what is this..? i never remembered him looking at me like that. I was suddenly unable to ignore his adoring and friendly gaze, my mind suddenly at a strange standstill. Whats going on here..? i thought strangely. Suddenly, he playfully pushed me into the black water, and i quickly got up and couldn't help smiling back at him in a similar way.
Meanwhile...
(This section will focus back on Tifa as the speaker) I had been running nonstop for what seemed forever, moving as fast as i could to reach the Mako Reactor before the pursuing Shinra troops could catch up or even find me again. I kept going as fast as i could despite the need to gasp for air. i began to wonder how JENOVA's children were always able to move so fast without tiring; faster than any human could. This was rough enough for me on its own. i had wanted to steal one of Shinra Company's vehicles but there was no time and i had been forced to keep going without it. After some time passed, I couldnt run at all anymore; i felt like someone had strangled me and stopped inches from death. Breathing was so difficult it felt impossible. i couldn't even walk now; just stood where i was, struggling to breathe. i began to feel my consciousness slipping and struggled to say "No, just... a little... farther--! i can... make it-!" i wanted to believe that but somehow i felt i wouldn't make it much farther. i then fell to the ground, and tried to get up while struggling to remain awake. Out of nowhere, i found myself gazing up at what was clearly one of JENOVA's remnants, despite his unfamiliar face. He resembled Kadaj with his hairstyle but his hair was noticeably thicker than hers. He was also extremely muscular and clearly had a very brutal physique. The rest of his looks were the same as all of JENOVA's children: the green eyes, the silver hair and so forth. He then said "For some reason i dont think i should kill you right here... tch, fine. I'll carry you to our base..." He seemed rather grumpy and exasperated but still lifted me off the ground and held me in his arms carefully. I coughed a few times, and noticed some blood also came out. I spoke next and said "Who are you?" He giggled in a strangely familiar way and said "Big bad Sulbio at your service, my friend." He also smiled at me, and i smiled back. Before i could hold my smile much further though i coughed some more, trying not to cough in Sulbio's face. Somehow, i knew that would really trigger this guy and possibly even get me killed. I knew hardcore guys when i saw them, and he was clearly one of them. Sulbio then said "Youre in bad shape... how long were you running?" I then replied "I dont know, it all happened so fast i didn't have any time to do anything or think..." Suddenly, he seemed confused and said "What do you mean..?" i then said "I cant explain it right now, Shinra troops are out on the loose trying to get me! Even worse is what Rufus Shinra has in store for your little sister Kadaj.... if we dont go now, we might not get another chance--!" i coughed even more, this time i felt very sick to my stomach. Sulbio's eyes seemed to flare up in a way that he knew what i was talking about, as though he sensed danger after hearing my words. Sulbio then said "Oh no... this is bad... i have to take a fast route! Little Sister is out there!" I then said "What fast route?!" Sulbio then replied and said "Close your eyes." then i immediately said "Why?" Sulbio seemed to quickly grow frustrated and said "Just do it! Unless you wanna be blinded or even die right here!" He was clearly very angry and worried at the same time, and i had obeyed. Unable to see anything, i felt as though we were traveling at such incredible speed it wasnt impossible not to notice. I then said "where are we?!" Sulbio said "A time-space that will take us right to Little Sister and Brother Yazoo. Dont open your eyes--you'll go blind. This brightness is too powerful for a human!" I then thought Her kids can travel through time-space too?! Ive never seen anyone strong enough to do that and survive! But again, i knew the gravity of the situation and it was no time for questions or bickering. Hopefully we weren't already too late. After we seemed to come to a stop, Sulbio said "Alright, its safe to open your eyes, Tifa." I obeyed and looked around, and saw both Yazoo and Kadaj sitting next to each other in a pool of black water. They seemed alarmed by our arrival. Yazoo said "Sulbio? Whats going on?" Sulbio spoke quickly and said "Theres no time to explain--we have to go back now!" I saw Yazoo stand up and help Kadaj to her feet as well, she seemed to stumble a bit as though clumsy or in an awkward daze, and leaned against Yazoo moaning in a strange way. Yazoo then said "Little Sister, fly back home. We'll meet you there." Kadaj replied and said "I cant... Too sleepy..." But she didn't seem sleepy at all; just clumsy and moody in a way id never seen and continued leaning on Yazoo. Sulbio grew furious and said "Now what?! We dont have time to stand around and wait!" Yazoo rose a hand, seeming to hush Sulbio and said "Calm down, Young Brother. I know a safe path that leads right home from here." Then Sulbio replied and said "What about Kadaj? We cant just leave her here or stay behind with her..." Yazoo carefully tried to pick up Kadaj and hold her in his arms, then he signalled Sulbio and lead the way from here. i had quickly noticed that Yazoo was also keeping his attention on Kadaj who he held carefully in his arms. We quickly came to a very secluded path that seemed safe enough to pass through. Sulbio spoke next and said "What the heck did you do to her?! She's never that clumsy!" Yazoo replied and said "I didn't do anything, calm down. I just played with her for a while... why would i hurt my own sister?" Sulbio sighed and said "Then why was she using you so she could stand up?" Yazoo sighed and said "I dont know... it just happened. I dont know why, though..." Sulbio seemed very suspicious and said "Are you even giving me the whole story?" Yazoo seemed to grow firm suddenly and said "Sulbio, stay out of it. Dont be so demanding!" I felt a mysterious vibe coming from Yazoo, he seemed concerned about Kadaj. I didn't realize how big of a heart JENOVA's children truly had until now. All it took was seeing how Yazoo was concerned about Kadaj. They truly were the victims the entire time. I spoke next and said "Is she ok?" Yazoo replied seeming more calm and said "She's ok, just sleeping soundly. If we can get home and avoid excess background noise she should be rested enough." Sulbio replied and said "Finally... hopefully she can actually walk when we get back..." Yazoo sighed and said "Can you please cut the commentary for a while, Young Brother?" Sulbio groaned and said "Fine..." I also wondered what was going on, but Yazoo seemed awfully reserved at the time. I had a feeling he was extremely protective of Kadaj even if he dide openly admit it. The mysterious connection between him and Kadaj had me feeling that something went wrong some time ago that made Yazoo as reserved and protective of Kadaj as he clearly was. I wondered what Yazoo truly felt deep inside his heart.... what was he feeling that he would not admit or tell us about?
