After he recovered, Ruin set off to go to the Valley of Shadows,
accompanied by an Earth Elemental, Terra. The two made their
way back through the tunnels Terra previously made to
follow Ruin and his friends.
"Well, here we are again", Ruin muttered, as he poked his head
out of the hole.
"This whole place gives off a bad vibe, dude. Which means we'd
better get your friends out, pronto!", Terra said, eyeing the
surrounding area.
Ruin went first, and made his way to the gate again. He saw a few guards patrolling the entrance to the lower cells, which,
he suspected his friends were being held captive.
"Time to see if I can wield this thing now", Ruin thought as he
clutched on to his sword.
He threw a rock, and the guards went to investigate the noise.
When they got close, Ruin dashed out, and with a swift slash,
cut their throats. They gagged for a bit, and fell down. He then
signaled for Terra to come over.
"Whoa, you really know how to use that thing. That was awesome!", the Earth Elemental whispered.
"Thanks to your bracer, this thing shouldn't give me anymore trouble", Ruin replied quietly, smiling.
Meanwhile, Jhuter was in the training grounds, taking on his squad for practice. If it's one thing Dark Elementals loved,
it was a good scrap.
"Not bad, you guys! Still not any better than me, but not bad",
he teased as he parried with multiple Dark Elementals.
"Jhuter, you ham! You never take this seriously!", one member
laughed, as he slashed at his leader.
"Yeah! How can you tell if we're getting better or not!?", another
said, spinning like a top, holding two daggers in hand coming
closer behind Jhuter.
Jhuter simply jumped high in the air and let the two knock each
other out, as he fended off more of his squad in mid-air.
"Because, I can't afford to lose any of my teammates in a sparring match, stupid", he grinned, sticking his tongue out.
Elsewhere in the base, Jade was tending to her own self with a
little grooming from some of her teammates.
"Wow, Jade. How do you keep your hair so silky?? Fighting's in
your blood!", a member awed, carefully combing it.
"And your nails are never chipped, either! How!?", another asked, painting her claw-like nails black.
"Heh, it's nothing big, girls. Just attack with grace, and make clean cuts when you swipe", she bragged, leaning back in her
chair.
"Kyaah! You have the most smoothest skin, Ms. Jade!", a younger
Dark Elemental squealed as she tended to her leader's soles.
"Thank you, Kiya. After battling as long as I have, you learn only
the best tricks for self-pampering. A girl's gotta look good when
she's assassinating", she chuckled. Then she thought of what she did to Ruin a little while ago.
"( For a Null, he was really cute)", she thought, involuntarily blushing.
As all this was going on, Ruin and Terra snuck downstairs to
the cells where Emby, Aquaria, and Clover were being held.
"So... Hungry...", Emby droned.
"We're all hungry, Emby", Clover reminded him, for the 20th
time.
"I'm really worried about Ruin, you two. What if he didn't make
it back there???", Aquaria asked.
Just then, they heard the door jiggling. Strange, they thought.
Why would the guards be having so much trouble getting
in their own cell? Just then, the knob fell off, and the door
flew off its hinges!
"Oops... Maybe you should've done it", Terra smiled awkwardly.
"Ruin! You're safe!", Aquaria cheered.
"Ruin's here to save us!", Emby exclaimed weakly.
"About time you showed up. What took you so long?", Clover
asked.
"I was sort of...out of commission for a while. Anyway, I'm glad
you all are safe. By the way, this Terra. He helped me get back
here", Ruin explained.
Just then, they heard running upstairs! Seemed like the
commotion from Terra breaking the door down alerted some of
the other Dark Elementals. And soon, the doorway was blocked!
"Well, well, looks like we missed a Null, eh guys"?
"Yeah, and it looks like he wanted to play 'Hero' ".
"The only thing about heroes is, they don't last forever..".
"Looks like your time's run out for you, and your pals".
"You'd best back up, dudes", Terra said, stepping forward.
"Or I'll break you in a hundred different places".
Ruin and the others readied themselves as the Dark Elementals
drew closer and closer. Looks like they'd have to fight their way
out of the Valley of Shadow, or it would become their final
resting place....
