Elemental Beginnings Part: 6

"We weren't always this way... We Water Elementals enjoyed our life, exploring new places via rivers and oceans, making water clean for marine life to dwell and multiply so that it could bring life to places everywhere. Until he showed up...". "Who?", Emby asked. "The beast that you have just seen: Sharnoc. He is a water beast that lives deep in the ocean. He is a vile parasite to us, and the marine life. He loves the fresh water that we Water Elementals purify by our pressence. That is why he came to our city one day, and began to reek havoc", the Elder explained. "Many of our bravest warriors tried to stop him, but to no avail. That is when he proposed a trade: Surrender a Water Elemental, and he would cease his attacks". "That monster! How could he do such a thing!?", Ruin seethed. "Some of our best purifiers stepped forward... They were brave indeed. You see, the one who stands above the rest currently is Aquaria, who was just taken by Sharnoc", a guard explained. "We tried to hide her from him. But when he saw the waters were much better than what the previous Water Elemental could make it, he rampaged again. Aquaria, seeing as how there was no other choice, told us to go as soon as he took her". Ruin's eyes grew big. She gave her life so that the others could live in peace, and that was truly noble.

"He can't...", mumbled, clenching his fist. "He can't be allowed to do this any longer! Water Elementals! I promise you, we'll go find Sharnoc, defeat him, and bring everyone back"! The Water Elementals gasped. After all they did to them, they wanted to go through such lengths for them??? "What's in it for you, Null Elemental? We know you have a price...", a snarky Water Elemental asked, which got the other ones wondering as well. "Yeah, what kind of debt will you put us in IF you come back with our kin"?? "Easy! We want-!", Emby started to say, when Ruin stopped him. "Nothing. You can't put a price on those you care about", he said. "I've heard enough. Null Elemental. If you truly are willing to do this...then I lay my blessings with you. Please...save our Water Elementals", the Elder replied, and lowered his head in respect. When the others saw their leader in such a way, they lowered their heads as well. Ruin pounded his chest, and he and Emby journeyed to the deep.

Down in Sharnoc's lair, Aquaria was chained to the ceiling as her purifying drops trickled down her into a cup-like rock. "They should've just started with you in the first place, my dear. Would've saved those simpletons the trouble of their 'precious' city being destroyed", Sharnoc chuckled. "Don't say such things about my people, you monster! You have what you want, now leave them out of it!", she shouted. "Fiesty, are we? I thought Water Elementals were a calm people. I didn't know you were a Fire Elemental!", he laughed. Aquaria scoffed. "Just look at it: All that wonderful pure water..", Sharnoc said, as he walked towards her, looking into the cup. "No one else could pull this off, but you. You should feel proud", he added, dragging his finger down her leg, and lapped up the pure water. She shuddered in disgust. " (I have to break out of here and rescue my people... But he enchanted these chains...my powers are too weak in them)", she thought. Just then, Ruin and Emby saw giant footprints and followed them to a large underwater cave. "That Sharnoc guy must be in there!", Emby exclaimed. "Looks like it. Be on guard, Emby. We don't know what's hiding in here..", Ruin warned. Emby nodded, and looked up. "Hey, was it this dark when we left?", he asked. The Water Barrier! Ruin remembered that the cat said it would only last for two days. They needed to hurry before that happened.

As they walked inside, they spotted eyes looking at them in the dark... Purple glowing eyes. "I-I guess he has roommates???", Emby gulped. Suddenly, a spiked-eel lunged at them! Emby couldn't use his fire, or his barrier would be weakened, so Ruin stepped in the way, and blocked with his sword. The barrier prevented him from moving slowly underwater, as well. A few quick slices, and the eel was sushi! Ruin looked at his blade while he was walking. From attacking the Flare Bear, blocking fire, and fending off angry sea creatures, it was looking a bit worn. Would it be ok in their fight? He sighed. "(I don't have time to think about that! I have to focus!)", he thought. A little ways ahead, Sharnoc had taken a nap from gloating. Aquaria hung from the ceiling, looking at the other Water Elementals. Their eyes looked weary, and their faces looked strained from using their purifying powers for so long. They needed to rest! "(Please hold on a little longer, my fellow Water Elementals..)", she thought. She felt very discouraged from her point a view, when she heard a small glub.

Turning her head towards the exit, she saw two shadows approaching. "(Now what??)", she wondered. Just then, she saw Ruin, and Emby cautiously step through into view! Seeing them, and especially Emby through her mind for a flip! What was a Null Elemental doing here? And a FIRE Elemental, of all things?? "Hey, it's Sharnoc!", Emby whispered, pointing at him. "We made it! C'mon, let's look for the Water Elementals and get out!", Ruin replied in a hush. They ran towards the others, and pulled on their chains. "No good...We need to break these with force", Ruin sighed. "If only I could use my flames...I could melt these chains no problem", Emby replied. "Who are you???", Aquaria whispered. They looked up. "Hey! We're here to rescue you, and the others by your Elder! Stay calm!", Ruin stated. "The Water Elder sent you to rescue us??? Oh, who cares! Listen, I can get us all out of here, but you must do something about these chains. They're blocking my powers, so I can't slip out!", she explained. Ruin and Emby swam up to her. Ruin marvbelled at her presence. Her hair looked like waves of water, and her eyes were as blue as the ocean. This was Aquaria, the Water Elemental! "Hey Ruin, try using your sword! If you whack hard enough, maybe you can break the chains!", Emby suggested. His mind on how wondrous a Water Elemental looked up close, Ruin swung his sword. *Clang*!!!! "Darn it, it only went halfway...", he grumbled. Unfortunately, the noise woke Sharnoc!

"Huh?? Who's there!?", he growled, standing up. His eyes zeroed in on Ruin. "You! You dare try to steal my water beauty!? I'll kill you!!",he roared, and swam at him! "WHOA!!", Ruin exclaimed, as he fell backwards, and began to swim away from him. "Emby! Find a way to break the chain! I'll hold him off"! "Me!?
What the flare am I supposed to do!?", Emby whined. Ruin combated Sharnoc, as the fearsome aquatic monster slashed his claws at him. Ruin could only block, which wasn't good for him. At this rate, he would lose for sure! Emby yanked on the chains with all his might, but he couldn't break it. He watched as Ruin defended against Sharnoc. "Dang it, I wanna help too!", he said, feeling angry. "Fire Elemental! If you value the Null Elemental's life, then break my chains!", Aquaria exclaimed. "Easy for you to say! Unlike you, my powers would be put out if I used them here!", he exclaimed, but stopped to think. The cat said that using his powers would weaken the barrier, but how long until the barrier actually diminished??? Looking at the chains, Emby put his hands on them, and flared up. The water was very cool because they were so far down, but Emby flared up as much as he could, causing the other half of the chain to just about melt! He quickly yanked it, and broke it! "I'm free!", Aquaria cheered, which caught the attention Sharnoc.

"Nooooo, my precious pure water!!!", he yelled, and quickly bolted over to reclaim her. Swiftly, Aquaria dodged the incoming monster while Ruin closed his eyes to feel for the right moment to strike. Aquaria held her hand up, and bubbles materialized in her hand, forming a silver-blue trident! She quickly swam back at Sharnoc, delivering blow after blow to throw him off balance. Sharnoc flailed about, and hit the wall by mistake, causing a part of stalactite to fall on Emby's barrier...and making it burst like a bubble! With no protection, Emby frantically flared about, trying to hold his breath. Aquaria saw this, and quickly swam towards him to lend him her aid with Sharnoc close behind. With his guard dropped, Ruin saw his chance, and quickly swam beside him! Wall-kicking at just the right time, he quickly plunged his sword in the monster's neck, causing it to break off. Sharnoc fell over, and gagged as he watched his purple blood float from him. Aquaria finally reached Emby, and circled a bubble mask around his mouth and nose. "This should help him until we can drain the water from his body", she said to Ruin. With her trident, Aquaria severed the chains from the other Water Elementals, and swam them and Emby back to Water City. The injured were taken care of, and Ruin took Emby to the surface. His face looked a bit pale, and his hair looked like normal wet red hair. "Is he...going to be ok?", Aquaria asked, looking from the water. "... I'm not sure. I don't know how to treat Fire Elementals", he replied, drying his face off.

Aquaria sat on the edge of the lake. "I know this isn't the best time to ask this, but... Why did you two come to save me and my kin? You two aren't Water Elementals...", she asked. "You really wanna know? At first..we came wondering if one of you could come back to my village of the Null Elementals to make our water fresh, and our fish cleaner and abundant. But we heard about your situation, and... Decided to help you instead", he explained. Aquaria gasped, then looked the other way. "... I see...", she replied. "Anyway, I have to go. I have to find a way to heal Emby back to normal", he said, picking the little boy up in his arms. "W-wait! What about what you came for???", she asked in a hurry. "... You guys been through enough already. Live on in peace", he smiled, and started down the road. Aquaria watched them for a while, and swam back to the bottom of the lake. Ruin watched Emby breathe lightly. He had drained the water from him earlier so he was breathing again, but just barely. He didn't know how he was going to heal him back, and it scared him that he may not make it. Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him. As he turned, he saw Aquaria running up to him and stopped. "I've spoken with the Elder. Ruin, I will aid you in restoring your village", she told him. Ruin smiled happily. Now the Null village will have clean water! Now all that was left to do was heal Emby!! ~Part 6 End
