Game & Wario R-view(Part 2)

Continuing previously from the first half of my G&W review, now we take a look at the other games in the bundle,as well as some of the minor extras,so let's continue this from before, shall we?

Taxi(By Dribble and Spitz):UFOs have arrived and they're here apparently to take some normal citizens away, and thus, the taxi-driving duo Dribble and Spitz are ready to shoot them out during their taxi business. In gameplay, you control their taxi cab by driving on a set map,in which there are three of them, but unlike Ashley's three levels, these are well-structured and varied maps in which you'll likely come to them more than once.Throughout the game, you have to shoot the UFOs with a bazooka(yes,a flipping bazooka) and then pick the customers. You can only carry a maximum of three customers at one go,so you have to come up with a bit of strategy here. There are UFOs that can be hit one,two or three times in a row,and they'll never stop coming until the timer runs out.Once the time has reached 3 minutes of this taxi-shooting-UFO mania, the UFOs' motherlord will arrive to take out the cabin you usually drop your costumers on,and you have three minutes to do shoot it's blinking points, and then it's main base. It's a bit hard per say, with the constantly arriving UFOs,and even more in the later levels, but with a little bit of practicing, everything should be fine. It's well made, and really fun to playthrough, and let's face it,the concept might have picked up your curiosity a bit, didn't it?
Rating:Great

Pirate(By "Captain" Wario):Another game made by the main guy himself, but now,it's all about pirates and rhythm! For this game, you have to face the Gamepad to the television screen, and also stand in front of it,for better performance. The gameplay consists of Wario,as a pirate captain, giving you commands to match with the music's rhythm,in which is divided in two halfs. The first has Captain Wario shooting arrows at you,and you have to raise the controller on the ship he's pointing, from left, right, center or over, and then raise it down to remove the arrows in time with the music. To hear these commands precisely, you have to lower the Gamepad facing the floor,or else, you'll see them on a very far angle. The next half has you doing some ridiculously frustating, yet funny poses to charge up an energy ball to shoot at Captain Wario, again,in time with the rythm. This one in the end is an energetically fun rhythmic game(it count as an activity even),although after the 3rd stage, where you start blocking the arrows by turning the Gamepad sideways, the controls start to get a little confused as to if they're facing the TV,but still,it's one of the games with some of the wackiest and funny interactions between the controller and the television.
Rating:Good

Bowling(By the entire gang):There's not a lot of differences from this game to actual bowling, other than the factor that you're dropping pins with the creator characters from previously mentioned games here,as well as some we are yet to cover;and that you're playing with the Gamepad turned sideways. You can play Bowling in either Challenge mode, which has three levels, each with a focused task for you to manage in ten rolls with five chances only, and Classic, where it's good ol' 10-frame bowling. You throw the ball by aiming on the Gamepad on either left or right, then send the ball rolling depending on how fast you throw it,and while the ball's going, you can rotate the ball to try to go for a perfect strike(By the way,the ball feels a bit "slippery" while rotating). Many seem to hate this one in particular, but it never really bothered me that much. It's a simple bowling mode, which will pretty much require you to have precision and patience to get them all pins,so this one is an ok game at best from my perspective.
Rating:OK

Bird(By some bird,I guess):This is a simple game in which you control a bird eating, with his stretching tongue, fruit that are falling off the sky,and when they land on the ground, they explode, destroying the platform they landed on,and...that's it as for gameplay terms. In the TV screen, the game is displayed on a clay-made look, but on the Gamepad,it looks just like a Game & Watch game, which is pretty nice and interesting, but other than that, you're just eating fruit until you drop off the platform you're standing on,and after probale 5 or 10 minutes of playing this, you'll be hooked off this one,but it still plays as a nice little activity game, especially if you like the first portable game series Nintendo has made that wasn't the Game Boy family, which was the Game & Watch,so considering that,I suppose, this one is trying to reach that perspective, than it's fairly decent in general.
Rating:OK

The following minigames can only be played on multiplayer mode, and since I had to play them alone, simply because I haven't played these games before with friends, and also because I have to cover these games as well,I'm looking at them if they were played with other people, from what I played.

Fruit(By Penny):Someone is stealing fruit while blending in within the crowd from the scenario, and with that, the agents will have to find out who is this mysterious fruit thief. The Gamepad player will be the thief, being able to choose between whoever he wants to blend in as the criminal suspect, while the others,as agents, have to carefully observe the crowd and the fruits in the stage,so you can come with a conclusion to who is the thief doing the suspicious acts of fruit stealing. As the thief, you get a boost up start from the opponents, just in time to hide yourself on the crowd scenery, and once the game has truly begun for all players,it will become a true investigation case to either solve or fail.During gameplay, once every 30 seconds, one hint as to where the thief is will be shown on the TV screen, and when the thief steals a fruit,he'll usually "stand out" a bit from the others,so don't worry whether this will be ultra hard, because it's all just a matter of attention for both the thief and the agents. The three stages in which you can play this are very well designed for a concept like this, with each being unique scenarios of their own,and the actual execution is pretty solid here, even if a bit too crowded, but it all sums up to a confusingly fun experience pretty well.
Rating:Great

Disco(By Mike):To start explaining how this musical battle between you and another person name by judging at the title, let me say this does not consists of you shaking the Wii Remote in time with the music or anything similar to that, like Just Dance.Disco has you and a friend, brother or any other person of sorts sitting around both sides of the Gamepad, facing off each other in a rhythmic battle divided between rounds, each with three turns, and the first to win two of these rounds takes victory. The game(which is the only exclusive multiplayer which can be played with two people only) plays like rhytym touch game and a Simon Says game in one, with you and your friend having to put rhythms with the three buttons displayed on the GamePad to send to your opponent, and then your opponent has to match that same rhythm you sent in a very tight second, since most of the time, you'll probaly find yourself pressing the order either too soon or too late, and if you miss one slight step of that music order, your opponent wins the round. It's pretty much a straight forward game, and for a multiplayer game,I found this one in particular to be a rather complex one to accomplish, since your friend will most likely be mashing buttons before or after the rhythm order's attack, and the execution falls apart a bit on that regard, since sometimes,I felt the game didn't record my movements at all,so this is probaly the one you'll come to the least when playing Game & Wario with friends.
Rating:Mediocre

Sketch(By Orbulon):This is most likely one that most people on your house will be familiar with pretty soon, being a guessing game with drawings as the main subject.Depending on the number of players, all of them will be doing the game's two roles between them, consisting of drawing on the Gamepad, and then guess what's being drawn on the TV.When you're with the Gamepad, you'll be given 2 minutes to draw the most amount of drawings, and also having the other people guessing successfully what you're drawing. You're given a random word requesting what you should draw exclusively on the Gamepad, and when one of players guess correctly what you are drawing, you press Corect on the controller's screen(or just possibly mess around with them for fun,but best for you if you're honest with them),and then repeat the process again until the timer runs out,and let someone else do the drawing service. If no one guesses in time what you are drawing,or if you don't know what the word means, you have to option to skip the word, although you'll lose 20 seconds from your timer,so be careful using this option here.I should also mention that this game can be used on Miiverse, where you draw by yourself a sketch of a word suggested at random by the game or the community in general,in a set time of 1 minute.I didn't use this feature often, since in the end, your drawing will be posted as part of your Miiverse account anyways. The actual game is,as said earlier, the most simplistic game out of the exclusive multiplayer games, but it functions fair enough, and it can be quite hilarious to see what the "spectators" think you are drawing from time to time.
Rating:Good

Islands(By Fronk):You may notice there's little frog-like creature in some of the previously mentioned games here, and he,named Fronk, actually has a game of his own,and I can say that this is the best game out of the only exclusive games available to play only with more than one person, and even one of the most fun and creative games from G&W.This plays like a mixture of darts with Angry Birds with that balance game from Wii Party(I forgot it's name),with the people playing this taking turns by swapping the Gamepad constantly when having to move the controller to the player in charge. There are four differently varied levels, where the objective is the same:get the most ammount of points from landing your Fronks at the water-floating islands, while trying to keep a good balance for the island so it doesn't fall off.Per turn, you have an aiming skim similar to Arrow, aiming simultaneously five Fronks at the islands.Occasionally, there will a darn seagull that will drop one of your or the others' Fronks on the water,in which adds to the frustration on beating your friends here, but not in a bad way.All of the four levels are incredible to play on,and summed up with the really entertaining gameplay and nice concept, you're most likely to find Islands the best multiplayer exclusive game to play with friends and family.
Rating:Amazing

Game & Wario, aside from it's varied games, has collectibles in which you pick up with tokens(usually won by winning certain game for the first time, beating a high rank and other similar standards) on the Cluck-A-Pop capsule machine, and for the most part, they actually do stand out with the rest of the game, with tons of collectibles, ranging from the usual stuff like character profiles to more random stuff you could only possibly expect from a game made by Wario himself, like in-game phone numbers which can call to a group of actor interpretations of some of Mario's basic enemies,so you can pretty much have an idea that the collectables as bonuses are well varied and mostly hilarious,so they aren't useless features from the game.

Game & Wario doesn't simply try to put the Wii U's hardware potential on a lot of creative and wackily fun ways, but it also accomplishes that objective, even if it has some few exceptions.Adding the ratings I gave to all of the 16 games included, this game mostly stands out to be a pretty well made financial project from Wario and his charismatic friends, and making what was initially a Wii U demonstration demo to a complete game was a well worth decision. It may not be the best game ever, like Wario said from the back of the game's box,but it still does manage to stand close up there.

Overall Rating
It t's pretty good

By the way,I don't rate games by numbers anymore, just for notice. :coffee:
