*chirp* *chirp* Mother 3, a game I absolutely LOVE and at times I just down right DISLIKED it(but to keep it spoiler free I cant express why I disliked it at times). This game had fabulous music composition, great dialogue (and a wonderful fan translation team), the characters are all extremely lovable with an immersive story. This game even though it’s initial release date was April, 20th 2006, it is still a cult classic and loved by millions.
The music in Mother 3 was composed by one man, Shogo Sakai. As a band kid myself the orchestrated pieces in Mother 3 are excellent; I would hum or sing along with some of the battle themes and marches in the game. The music sets a lot of the tone, from a song that has an ominous and dangerous feel, right back to “high spirits” music. Music, for me at least, needs to be so good, that I can hum it at any time of day or night. Some of my favorite pieces of music include numbers 32, 38, 45, 46, 58, 85, 88, 104, 109, 186 and that’s just a handful of pieces.**Go to link the http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/mother-3 to find the songs I’m talking about.**
The dialogue, characters and story, are all so wonderful. You will love Lucas and understand him even more, his father and mother Flint and Hinawa are the perfect parents, loving and caring of their 2 sons. Duster and Kumatora are 2 more characters that are funny and you’ll come to love. Even all the side characters you will like, I.E: Wess and Alec.
Now for the fun part the gameplay, I know the first couple of paragraphs were all opinions, but now you guys get more opinions, YAY(that’s the point of a review, showcase my opinions, so I can get you to play this awesome game)! The battle system of Mother 3 is the same as Earthbound/Mother 2, rhythm based. The music ties a part into doing max damage on an enemy via a 16-hit combo. Now the 16-hit combos are quite hard especially on bosses but do not fret, they aren’t needed to beat the game. You can also use PSI moves which take PP but are not beat related. Now as you know in Pokemon there is only one wild battle theme, well in Mother 3 each enemy has a different Battle theme, one of the enemies, the “Arachnid!” Has a different theme then the enemy “Big Bro”. With each enemy having its own 16-hit combo beat depending on the music playing for the fight.
now even with different enemies on screen at the same time depending on what enemy encountered you, that 16-hit combo is universal for ALL enemies in that ONE fight.
Basically what I’m trying to say is the battle system is perfect and works great!
Look you made it thru the review of this masterpiece! Now for the fun stuff, a download link so you can play this game! All you need is GBA emulators (I suggest Virtual Boy Advance, because it can also play GB, GBA and GBA SP games) which are easy to find. http://www.mediafire.com/?3hgyg8jem52288h That is the link to download the FAN translation. I hope you do try out Mother 3 and experience all it has to offer! This is my first review of any game ever, feedback is appreciated! To end this quite sparrow like! *chirp* *chirp*
