Chapter 10
After a light reunion with Claire and West, Andy set off to find Xander with them. There were a few Pokemon that said things like 'Congrats' or 'Great job, man'. Other than that, it was like it was another day for everyone.
They got to the office, and came in. Xander was already at the front, and he was talking with the Bisharp that was normally working on the computer. When the three came in, the conversation abruptly stopped, and Xander looked up.
"Hey! You've survived! I know you could do it! Do you have the keys?" Andy held out all four keys to the Aggron, who took them. "Alright. I just need you to follow me someplace, alright?"
Andy followed Xander, and they went into the office. Nobody else entered besides those two.
"Hey, Andy, could you help me out in moving my desk?"
The two moved objects out of the center room. Afterwards, Xander moved towards his picture that was hanging on the wall. He removed it, and behind it were four keys. He inserted the keys inside, and gave each a twist. After the fourth key was twisted, all four keys disappeared, likely to have returned to their Elite owners.
Andy saw a trap door flip up from where the desk was. What interested the most was that he could not see the outlines of the door at all. It seems as though Pokemon are more advanced with their security. Any top-notch security system from the outside world would pale to the kind of things Pokemon made.
Xander motioned for Andy to climb down the ladder inside. He did so until the reached the bottom. They walked a little distance before they had to climb up another ladder, although this was so long, Andy could not see the top.
They started climbing.
***
They kept climbing up the void for what seemed like an hour until Andy bumped his head. At that point they knew they were at the top.
"Go ahead, kid, push on it!"
Andy pushed his paw up at the ceiling, and it flipped up. Light flooded in the chamber, and it kind of hurt Andy's eyes.
Wait a second...is that...the sky?
It was indeed the sky, and it was in an overcast. He climbed up further, and he noticed that he was on the top of a mountain. There were clouds surrounding the sides and top, so the rest of the mountain disappeared beneath the clouds. The hatch that he had opened was a rock that blended in with the area.
Xander climbed up from the ladder, and closed the rock.
"So, this is where your battle will take place! Do you have any questions?"
"Yeah. Wouldn't people see us battling up here?"
"Nah, we're up beyond the clouds. Anyone watching will think it's all a lightning show within the clouds."
"Hasn't anyone thought it strange a rock would be up here?"
"They don't give it much thought. If someone decided to push on the rock, it will only respond to a Pokemon registered in this base, and it can be sealed, too."
Andy began to understand what was going on, and the conditions of the battle.
"So, where's the challenger?"
"Right here." Xander knocked twice on the rock, and Andy heard it settle. "Every Elite 4 has a champion, and he is the last challenge. I am your last challenge."
Andy felt his heart rate increase, but he kept his cool to avoid looking unprofessional, but on the inside he was scared as heck. Both types are at a type advantage, but Andy doubted Xander would go down in 2-3 hits like the others.
"Since you've had it hard with the Elite 4, I'll let you go first."
Andy began thinking about what move he should use. This Pokemon is a Rock-Steel type, so Aura Sphere would be very effective, Blaze Kick and Shadow Claw would deal normal damage, and Dragon Pulse won't do much. However, Xander might be expecting him to use Aura Sphere and use a trick or two.
Andy made up his mind. He would use Blaze Kick, and then Aura Sphere when he got close.
Andy launched himself at the Aggron, and flames picked up. He could tell Xander was taken with a little bit of surprise, and he jumped out of the way, but not before being grazed with the flames. While the Aggron was in the air, he readied the sphere and fire it point-blank.
When the smoke cleared, Andy saw Xander rolled up into a ball. As he unrolled himself, he gasped.
"Ack! Iron Defense is helpful, but you can't breathe for a while."
Andy felt a little bit of irritation. This could mess up his strategy, but now he knew that he was going up against Iron Defense.
The Aggron got up, and an energy began to build up in his hands. He pulled back and fired, and Andy was hit with a strong energy. That was Focus Blast. Two moves down, and two left to use.
Okay. I think it might be safe to assume that the rest of his moves are Rock or Ground types, which he may not use because of the risk of collapsing the mountain.
Andy had a new strategy. Iron Defense would increase Defense, not Special Defense, so he decided not to use Aura Sphere until Blaze Kick did little damage or he ran out of PP for that move.
Andy began to use a Blaze Kick, and as he was coming in for the hit, Xander was gathering energy up again. This time, however, the energy was in both of his hands, and he held pushed them together to make a large ball. The kick and energy made contact, and there was a mild explosion that had Andy flying back. It had hit both of them.
Andy was in trouble. In a mere two hits he was already tired, but the Aggron looked as if nothing happened.
"Alrighty, then," Andy said. "I guess I'll have to rethink my strategy a bit."
"Yeah. C'mon, I've seen it all! Show me what you've got!"
Xander began another charge another Focus Blast, and he fired it. In panic, Andy got an Aura energy on his hand and smacked the ball. It bounced back. Xander looked a bit taken back, but then charged his energy and hit it again.
Andy began to see how this worked. Focus Blast was an odd-ball move, so it could bend the rules of something like his Aura Sphere. Soon, Xander and Andy were bouncing the energy ball back and forth, similiar to how Link does Dead Man's Volley with Gannon or another Zelda enemy. With each rebound the ball traveled faster, until Xander missed and it hit him. He looked really hurt from that ball.
"Okay...so maybe I haven't seen it all." He curled up again, and I saw his defenses rise. I took this opportunity to fire a barrage of Aura Spheres. Since these were smaller, they didn't do much damage, but it got to the point where the Aggron suddenly spilled out of the ball.
"Okay, okay, stop!" Xander struggled to get up. "I...didn't realize how rusty I've gotten. Oof. You win. Welcome to the PRT."
Andy helped the Aggron up and steadied. "This doesn't mean I'm going to let this go, you know. I'm going to have a rematch when I get better at battling."
***
Andy was now reading Treasure Island back at his dorm. He had finally gotten into the PRT, but now was not the time to relax. After the fight, Xander told him that he would be getting a package that would help him get started, so now he was waiting for that package to arrive.
A few minutes had passed when he heard a knock on the door. He opened it, and he found Harrison at the door.
"Hello! I've heard about what you've done today. Congrats on everything! Here's your package!" The Treeko gave Andy a large box. "See you later!"
Andy thanked the Treeko and closed the door. He opened the package and looked inside. He found a red bandana, similar to Troy's blue one, a badge, a map, his backpack, and a letter.
Andy
Here's the map and such that you need for things. That bag is good for holding things. It's got lots of Pockets, compartments, and it will not let water or any fluids inside as long as it is zipped up.
So, yeah, here's a badge to get into PRT meeting rooms, blah, blah, use the map, blah, blah. The PRT will be meeting every Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00, but you can access the room whenever you want.
I've also put in your Jirachi case, and will prepare a team for you to help you. I plan on dispatching you on Monday. Luckily, all schooling will be cancelled for that day for some reasons. Have a good day now!
