I've completed the story-mode in PSMD! I have my partner back & can evolve my starters or use them on Peliper Island as well.

I've completed the main story-mode in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon - Blue for the DS. Shown here with my starter evolved--evolution is only enabled after finishing the story mode in PMD games. Next to the starter-based house as proof that Meowth was my starter.
....so many times. I cleared the E4 so many times omg. If the Elite Four weren't the best way to level up pokémon in these games, it would be even more embarrassing.
