-backstory-
The world the characters live in was created by the Titans- enormous dragon-like creatures who could harness the power of the seven original elements. They use their abilities to create the world now known as the seven nations (one dedicated to each element- seventh being the element of energy). The Titans each pass on their elemental powers to seven people, and create the legendary swords of the six. These now called Guardians pass on their abilities from generation to generation, only having the element of energy come every three generations. Now, the Titans are believed to be long-gone, only to have their much smaller descendants, dragons, left of them.
-backstory #2: a tale of two brothers-
Six generations pass since the original elemental guardians, with a new master of energy having two sons: Hiroshi Raiko and Nagasei Raiko (later to become Akuma) the sons are gifted with the elements of light and darkness. An even darker power overcomes Nagasei's spirit and turns against his brother and father, leading to his banishment to the underworld, and later change to the dark overlord, Akuma.
