For those of you who never heard of it, it is a match online where the players don't attack. It was around Brawl for awhile too, and now it's back in SSB4, except with rules. In brawl, you could do whatever you wanted from just idling, taunting, crouching, whatever you could imagine without getting banned for the entire match. Now in Sm4sh, you can get banned for things like that. Which means you have to be very careful and think before you act.
1. Greetings
You are P1. P2, P3 are taunters, P4 is the crasher(A person who does attacks)
You enter the match. P2 walks up to you, you expected P2 to attack, so you shield yourself. But instead, P2 repeatedly crouches. If you repeatedly crouch back, you are a buddy to P2 and P3. If you attack P2, you are an enemy to them or the crasher. So let's say you repeatedly crouch back instead, sometimes after that, P2 might taunt once, it must be saying to you "Welcome!" If you taunt back, you might be saying "Thanks!".
2. The crasher
P4 enters the match. P4 suddenly attacks you and your buddies. In brawl, you could simply gang up on P4 or let only one of them handle it(usually the strongest member goes after the crasher) and let the other 2 do whatever except interrupting their battle. In Sm4sh, If you gang up on P4, you'll most likely get disconnected from the group, so you'll only have one choice left which is to let only one handle it, just to be safe.
3. Communicating
Us taunters communicate to each other by repeatingly crouching.
Let's say that you want to challenge P3 to a fight, if you just attack P3 without any warning, you might be considered a crasher. So, first give P3 some space, then repeatingly crouch and do some moves, but don't attack anyone. If P3 does the same, that means P3 accepts the fight. But if he repeatedly crouches and steps away from you, that means P3 declines the fight. But let's say P3 KO'd you, during the fight, P3 should fall off stage, so you and P3 can be even, if not, go up to P3, repeatedly crouch, then attack P3, or if high damage enough, do a Smash attack so P3 can be KO'd and repeatedly crouch so P3 doesn't misunderstand.
Apologizing is the same. If you attack P2 by accident, simply repeayingly crouch, which means "sorry".
That's all for now. I hoped l did good.
Note: Taunt parties are mostly in the For Fun > Smash mode of online.
