The Link Training Guide (SSB4)

Link: A Self-Made Guide
So, you want to learn how to use Link, don't you? Well, in this blog post, I will be describing how to use Link, how powerful his moves are, and his potential combos. Keep in mind that sometimes, tiers don't matter, but instead depends on the skill of the player(s). So, without further adu, let us begin. I will not be covering Link's alternative movesets or Toon Link, as they can both be used for a whole 'nother blog post entirely.

First off, I will create a list of all of Link's moves and how much damage they do at full power (as in using these moves when they are not 'stale', and both fully charged vs not charged):
  • S-Smash (1st Hit)- 7-9%
  • S-Smash (2nd Hit)- 13-18%
  • S-Smash (Both Hits)- 19-26%
  • D-Smash- 14-19%
  • U-Smash- 17-23%
  • S-Tilt- 13%
  • D-Tilt-11%
  • U-Tilt- 9%
  • U-Air- 15%
  • D-Air- 15%
  • F-Air- 24%
  • B-Air- 8%
  • Neutral Special- 4-12%
  • Up Special- 14-22%
  • Down Special- 5-8%
  • Side Special- 7% (0% if the boomerang is returning to Link)
  • Grab Attacks- 2%
  • Up Throw- 7%
  • Down Throw- 3%
  • Forward Throw- 4%
  • Back Throw- 4%
  • Dash Attack- 14%
Now that we have all of the information for Link's moves, lets talk about possible combos. Keep in mind that these are combos that I personally use, and that there may be more that I am unaware of. Also be aware that some, if not all of these are not true combos, but can connect.

  • Down Throw to Up Smash- 23%
  • Down Throw to Up Tilt to Up Smash- 32%
  • Down Tilt to Forward Air- 35%
  • Down Air to Down Air- Around 26%
  • 5 Up Tilts- 36%
  • Down Special to Dash Attack- 19%
Other important things to note:

  • Link's down aerial can meteor smash if executed at the correct moment.
  • Link's grab is also a grapple, which can be used for off stage recovery.
And I believe that's all! If you have any additions, corrections or if there's anything that I have forgotten, please tell me ASAP so I may fix them. I thank you for reading this, and I plan to do more of these in the future! Next up, Mario!

Well the damage percentages are nifty, but smash has this habit of updating every so often to balance the game. Do you have any measures in place to monitor those?

I see everything here but @Heropon tatsu's suggestion, and move mechanics: Like, how Link's Up Standard drags a standing opponent toward himself, or that his Dash Standard has an opening window. (Though you did cover his Boomerang not doing damage on the return trip.) I suggest more detailed descriptions of each technique and their properties. I feel that'd be beneficial for this blog.

to both @Erix Summerdown and @Heropon Tatsu, I thank you both for your replies, and I will add on what you suggested to me. Just give me a little bit to do a bit of research and I should have the blog post updated no later then Friday (or in 2 days time). I'm really a casual smasher, but I do love this game and again, thank you both for your comments and suggestions.
You seem to be neglecting all the nair combos along with the Zair combos. The ones you mentioned every player knows
