So,in a chance that we will most likely wait soon enough until we get to see who won the Fighter Ballot to deserve his/her own character introduction in this smashing universe, many people are itching their heads to have their favorite character in the newest instalment of the ultimate all-star duke-out craze of all times.I myself am hyped to see how things have resulted, and because the time has particularly arrived,I'll introduce my choices for the 10 characters I want to be playable as DLC(or the newest game to come in the NX).
Reminder that this is my opinion only,so if there's a character you wanted to get more support in this list and isn't included, than I'm really sorry, but I hope the best of luck for that character you want to win. Some observations should be done first though :
10)Dixie Kong doubles the trouble!
As one of the more popular choices for a female character to represent the Donkey Kong series,Dixie Kong has the opportunity to become a solid fighter,as a character who has been in Nintendo history since the SNES days, and made a triumph comeback in Tropical Freeze.Of course, using her agile skills and apparent strong hair, she would have some similarities to Diddy Kong, and maybe some new moves added in the process that aren't inspired by the games she appeared on.The Final Smash, for me,would be Dixie summoning and then throwing a giant boomerang banana on screen while other smaller bananas are thrown to trip opponents to be more vunerable to get hit by the banana. The female Kong has tons of chances to get in this game or the next one,and I'm curious to know how things will fair well for Dixie.
9)Shantae whips it all!
Half-genie,half-hero,another character with some devastating hair, and alongside the rivalry with Shovel Knight,Shantae is up there to be the definitive modern indie-representative(although she has started way back from the Game Boy Color, which makes me question why she's considered an indie-character ).With me here having played a bit of Risky's Revenge beforehand,I can see the charm the series has been recognized for,and I can agree with the others for her support to be in the game, also because of her sufficient history with Nintendo since the end of Game Boy Color era.I didn't make much progress on that game, but I do have some idea of her moveset.Of course, she would use her ponytail to whip opponents(maybe as a special or side-smash),and could use her exclusive powers from Pirate's Curse.I don't see her using her usual animal forms in her playstyle, but could be a possibilty for a Final Smash, with variants depending on the button pressing or whether if you're in the air or ground, like Ryu's two simultaneous different Final Smashes.I guess she's one of the major guesses for the winner of the Ballot as of now,and until then,if she earns the spot,I will expect a fighter with crazy playstyle to rely on.
8)Phantom R steals the show!
I know, this is the most odd and unlikely choice to choose for a character to appear in Smash, but everyone once has their weird pick, and for something different on the list, considering the options of games I have as of now,I'm going with Phantom R from Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure.Technicaly, yes,he's a third-party character, and yes, there are other Sega representatives people want more in Smash like Knuckles,Dr.Eggman/Robotnick,and even Billy Hatcher for some. But,from the other two Sega franchises I played, being those Rhythm Thief and Super Monkey Ball, the first one just makes more sense to me,and I generally want him to appear in the game more(Super Monkey Ball is still fun in its challenging way).He would be similar to the Wii Fit Trainer, where he uses many different rhythm poses from the game to attack people, plus some other actions inspired by other things you do in those same music minigames within Emperor's Treasure.I don't have a definitive idea for his Final Smash,as I'm still in the middle of the game he's in,but from my thinking,he would set up a dancing stage and whether you follow his moves correctly or not,the more you miss, the more accuracy you have of being knocked out of the stage.I'm not going to raise my hype meter for this one so soon just because of two Capcom characters in the game(breaking the rule of one 3rd party character per company),but until then,I'll just wait and see.Maybe it can happen at some point unexpectedly;who knows when daddy Sakurai is the one mastermind in the subject here.
7)Cranky Kong stomps over!
Out of all the Kongs available,I chose Cranky as my most wanted, and I know,it's a very weird choice.Cranky has the potential to be a hilarious character on his playstyle, being the closest thing to playing as Scrooge McDuck himself in a Nintendo game back in Tropical Freeze, mostly by bouncing like a spring-chicken on the stage as a down-special or down-air,although more balance to not be considered broken. His Final Smah would be him returning to his nostalgic arcade days of being the original Donkey Kong, slamming barrels at his opponents in that game(because the DK of the arcade and NES is actually Cranky himself, while the recent one of the Country games is his nephew, for those unaware ).Seriously, seeing other character being beaten up by a senior monkey with a cane would be just humorous, and with the wide selection of varied fighters that Smash already has,I see no problem with Cranky getting his fighting opportunity soon or in the later future.
6)Wonder Red unites the force!
Coming from what is arguably the most underrated game in the Wii U alongside Pikmin 3 and others,is the strong and faithful leader of the Wonderful 101 team,Wonder Red.Admittedly,I haven't played the full game yet,but I have tested the demo. The reason why I haven't bought the whole experience yet is because I can't find this game anywhere here in my country, but back to the game's main character.Using his main methods of attacking enemies,he can use his Unite Hand attack as a special move, and for more variety, call for other Wonder members to support him in battle, like with Wonder Blue,Wonder Green,Wonder Pink and others. For his Final Smash,he would use a devastating attack where all the Wonder members would unite to result in a massive final blow,as it appears in one of the battles in the original game.I know he can do it to the roster, and I believe that will happen sometime by a definitive chance.
5)Bomberman blasts it all!
Bomberman,a long-time forgotten and charismatic icon of arcade-like gameplay, would be great to include in Smash. With a good arsenal of explosive weaponry at his disposal,Bomberman would make up as a fun and strategic fighter to use,and really,I feel like this one deserves more attention after his suprise obscurity over the years. However, even if I want the character in the game,I have actually never played any Bomberman game before, making him appear not as high on my list, and because of that,I don't any idea for his Final Smash, but still,he has great potential for an awesome comeback if gets the chance.
4)Paper Mario unfolds his power!
Now this one will likely only set his entry(no joke intended) in the next future Smash because we already have 7 Mario representatives(or 18,if we're going to count Wario,Yoshi,Donkey Kong,Diddy Kong and the Koopalings alternatives of Bowser Jr.'s ) already in the roster, although if we are going to think of a character with a likable change of getting in from the franchise next,I'd say it would be Paper Mario(as stated earlier,no Waluigi because he's already an assist throphies, which if he wasn't,him being playable would be the best thing ever ).Because Paper Mario is a very recognizable and loved RPG franchise by many(No discussions on the hatred of a certain game, please),and that it has been around for a while now,it would make sense to include a different inclusion to the Mario selection of fighters in a perspective. His moveset could be quite easy to build with his attacks from the four games he's been(not incluiding Paper Jam,which will only be out on 2016),and has potential to being a very interesting and tactical fighter.Final Smash otherwise would be for the "paperized" italian to set up a battle star like in Thousand-Year-Door,and knock out opponents with his most powerful attacks from each game.Probably not for this instalment as DLC,but here's hope for him in the next game.
3)Doc Louis joins the club!
Truth be told,I want Mac's coach as a fighter in Smash, and I have my reasons.First,I think he would likely be the next Punch-Out!! representive to appear in Smash with Little Mac,other than probably King Hippo or even Glass Joe.Second,if you played the games, you know how charismatic and loyal this guy can be,with a lovable charisma, and funny obsession with chocolate. His fighting-style could be pretty bizarre with inspiration from his exclusive Club Nintendo title,''Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!'',and some new ones as well, like an attack similar to Diddy Kong's where he throws a chocolate bar to the floor and his foes trip over it,but a bit slower and stronger in damage. And like Mac,he woudn't be ideal to fighting on the air, although his aerial attacks would cause slight more damage. For his Final Smash, similar to when you take Doc's chocolate out of his hand when he pulls it off in the Club Nintendo game,he will become stronger and quicker on his attacks for a limited time, but instead of losing the chocolate or becoming a Giga form like Little Mac,he just eats some chocolate bars to power him up to the max.Due to him already appearing sometimes at Mac's taunts in Smash 4 with advice and in the results screen if the boxer wins though,he most likely won't be in for the roster of the Smash we got now,but hey,who knows?
2)King K Rool rules the throne!
As the one who is looking to be the future king leader of the Ballot,King K Rool is a great opportunity to have in the game for a lot of reasons. And yes,he's the last character from the Donkey Kong franchise I'm incluiding here.He is DK's main villainous arch-nemesis,meaning more villain and DK representation in the roster;has a huge range of attacks for disposal based on his battles from the original Country trilogy plus DK64,and being a heavyweight with lots of arsenal at his disposal,he would be a balance long-ranged and close-ranged opponent, like how he throws his crown in the original DKC,and how he dukes out opponents back in DK64 as a boxer. As for his Final Smash, make him summon a literal storm of cannonballs from the first Country.Yup,that's it.The king is looking to not wait too long for his chance to set his throne in the roster and spot in the Ballot, and I think it will be for the best.May the king rule it all!(I just noticed the pun in his name now )
1)Rayman pummels the fight!
Ignoring the factor that Ubisoft is not doing a well job nowadays with their releases,I will confess the very opposite for the Rayman games of recent years.I played a few of limbless hero's games for some time now,and because I think Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends are admittedly some of the best platformers of recent years,Rayman can easily fit into Smash Bros. with a tied-in moveset from those two games(plus maybe a few moves from his other past games, like a Lum Shot charge) if the mascot can jump in the Smash bandwagon from copyrights with some fan-service included.I mean, you literally already have a moveset prepared for the guy.Just do some changes and minor new things here and there, and then he's ready to go.I don't know what his Final Smash would be,but I'm sure the development team could discover the answer more easily than me.The potential of Rayman's inclusion is huge, and while I'm still not fond of the company behind the mascot's properties, being a mascot I remembered since my childhood,Rayman would be great to have in the roster. And thus, for this list, the hero with no arms,no legs and no neck, yet again entertaining personality;is my definitive choice for the character I want the most for SSB4 DLC/SSB5.
Now,some few honorable mentions should be put here:
Shovel Knight
Impa
Sceptile
9-Volt
Bandana Dee
Inkling(Well, for Smash 5 anyway, and not as Smash 4 DLC already, because of reasons that would take too long to explain )
And these were my picks for possible Smash fighters in the future. Thanks for reading this huge list(I seriously am needing to do shorter posts ),and may you all have a good day,and happy smashing!
Reminder that this is my opinion only,so if there's a character you wanted to get more support in this list and isn't included, than I'm really sorry, but I hope the best of luck for that character you want to win. Some observations should be done first though :
- I won't be incluiding characters who are already assist throphies in Smash 4(I would have put Waluigi,Dillon,Ashley and Ghiharim if if wasn't for them being on that category, sadly).
- No veterans from previous games will be mentioned in here(Also no Wolf,Ice Climbers and Young Link unfortunately)
- I won't include Professor Layton on the list(or the honorable mentions)as most of you predicted that he would be my number 1 choice for this list, and sometimes,I notice that I praise and mention the franchise a bit too much,so there's going to be some other faces to be seen here(and some odd new faces too,may I leave a small warning).
