The R button on my 2DS seems to be jammed. As in: it won't stop registering as being pressed even when I leave the DS alone. It's a pain as even when I'm looking for people on the PSS it suddenly starts going all the way to the right. As for Pokémon this isn't too much of a concern as I can just disable the buttons for the game, but this is still very annoying.
I've tried to look for a solution online and all I get are solved issues with the R or L button NOT working, which is because of dust trapped between the spring or something. And that really doesn't seem like my case. (Yes, I've tried blowing into the shoulder button.)
I can't exactly send it off to Nintendo because I dont exactly live in a place where that's convenient at all.
If you guys could offer any help, that'd be great. :)

It's pressed in, right... Use a dry toothbrush to try to get it back out to its proper placement. Rub around the area where there's a separation between the console and R button. This is even official - it's for cleaning, but it might get the shoulder button unstuck too. Good luck, man \o

The shoulder button on this is in Designed in a weird way. It's kind of closed off? I can't exactly get the brush to the spring where the actual button is? Help, brother. ; A ;
I could try to unscrew the back and get to the button, but I don't think its that safe...?

The way that i fix my 3ds R and L button is to flow in it. Make sure to swallow before you dont want moisture in there, but I found that this works much better than a toothbrush.

Hold on! ;_; This is a somewhat rougher method but needs must when the devil drives - try to use a thin something (a steel ruler?) to prise it out. Make sure you don't go too far. Good luck :panda:

I think otouto-kun already tried that and it didn't work D:

I've already tried that, yes. And I was sure not to get anything other than air in there. :/

My cousin used a flathead screwdriver to press it upwards a little bit to try and see if the button was out of place. (not too forcefully though.)

well it works for 3ds and 3dsxl but it may be different for 2DS because it is closed off more another way is to get a air duster and spray it in where the button is that will blow out all of the dust and stuff causing your button to stick. the is the same idea as blowing it out yourself but it is easier and no risk of moisture. but if you keep trying and it does not work at all then it could be bad contact and you might have to get it repaired.

I think the spring may be a bit out of place and pressing the button constantly. I may have to take it apart and push it into place myself but the screws are a bit tiny. (I can get a little screwdriver set though.)
It'll still be hard to get to the button like that, not to mention risky so I want to try any and all other options first.

My friend had trouble with his 2DS's shoulder button as well.
Currently, you have 2 options:
  1. Get a can of compressed air, and stick the nozzle between the R-button gap. Then, generously spray some air at high speed to get rid of the dust. This is a better option than blowing air because it is concentrated, hence having more pressure, and also doesn't have any spit, which might lead to short-circuiting later on.
  2. This should ONLY be used as a last resort. Pry off the R-button itself, revealing the small contact pad underneath. It still will work, just won't be as comfortable.
Good luck! :)
