Support Needed 3DS XL freezing

Today my 3DS XL suddenly started acting weird. It freezes A LOT. The first time was when I opened the music app. It was working fine, I closed my 3DS and when I opened it, after 2 seconds or so it suddenly froze. I got an error message saying to save my current progress and force a switch off. It also froze while exiting Pokémon Shuffle. It also froze (then after a while unfroze) at the start screen of Pokémon Rumble.

Does anyone have any clue what's wrong and how to fix it?
 
Most of the freezing problems on 3DS are cause by the memory card. Try removing it and then inserting it back in. Also, check if it's full, as that decreases loading times and causes freezes. If that doesn't work, go to the options and check for any updates in the firmware. If there are any, install them. If this started happening after you did an update in the firmware, then that's the cause. Same thing happened on my 2DS and after updating again, the problem went away. If nothing works and the freezing happens often, you might want to do a system format on your 3DS.

Thanks! The only recent update was an ingame update for shuffle, but I don't think that's causing it.
 
By update I meant System Firmware Update. Did you try removing the sd card and reinserting it?

I know, but some games have been known to cause freezes too. I've tried, and no freezes so far but that might just be luck. (Though I hope it isn't.)
