In a recent Pokémon Sun and Moon discussion video that I watched on YouTube, they revealed some change that I didn't noticed when I watched the Treehouse coverage many times, as shown here:

(Yeah, the numbers are noted in the video)

Since I was used to having 4 moves in Pokémon, this reveal was surprising for me. What do you think about this? Do you think all Pokémon will eventually learn 5 moves altogether, or do they will be capable of having 4 moves but having the last one reserved for the ultimate move?

Nice catch!

I was thinking it might be some sort of key item that gives your Pokemon another move slot, but I'm not really sure.

So you're telling me my Chandy could possibly start running Heat Wave, Fire Blast, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, and now Dark Pulse?

This is gonna change the meta for sure, I'm interested to see how.

maybe a special item will be shown. That would explain why pokemon couldn't learn more moves before. It would be like using evolution stones, but the item might be perminant. But I think this would make the game different in a lot of ways. Can't wait for more info

From the looks of it, there will definitely be a fifth move slot. It just all depends on how you get it. If it is just a new addition to the game, no strings attached, Then this game is going to be a MAJOR change in the competitive battling Pokemon Universe.

What's next, two held items?:p

That, but the screen on the touch screen shows 4 moves, and there seems no space for another move

The possibility is there, however. In the actual game, they might give room for an extra attack. This would cause changes in competitive play, and also in-game play! (My team could use that.)

This might just be a beta thing. Or the move could be on the left. The thing is that there is still a lot of space on the screen. We will see what they will make.

The fifth slot is the item slot, as it always has been. For instance, if you consider that it's a status screen, and possibly one from mid-battle, as all pokes are listed and there's an option for Summary, the space where an item would be listed should be notable, but it's not. Based on that, and how the held item has always been listed with the moves, it's a very reasonable assumption that the fifth slot must be for an held item; nothing new, just a new layout, with new colors.

Wow I didn't even notice that. You got a good eye. To be honest I can see it either way I can see it being a new addition to Pokemon where every Pokemon hopefully will be able to learn 5 moves. I think they added this so that players don't have to be limited to only having a choice of 4 moves but now 5. That would really come in handy exspecually when you use hms as much as me.bi would be so happy if this was real or if it was just a trick.

Would be nice to have a bit more moves . It would bring a bit more kick to the battles and I hope that there are a lot more changes to game play , more story , just things done a bit different cause I think it is about time they change it up and put some new ideas into the games to make them a lot more fun. Lets hope all the hype is worth in for sun and moon.
