About the rating

Since it was release, the ESRP rating is E-10. I thought something has changed from Melee and Brawl, but what changes brought the rating down? Melee is reasonable since there isn't a E-10 rating from that time. Still, how did Brawl got a T rating? I would like to say "animated blood", or the appearance of Snake as a fighter, but realizing that Bayonetta will be downloaded and still keep the rating (not to mention that the game isn't bloody), I can't say if that's the reason. Have any idea on this change? I don't want to say that it's as simple as being recognized as low-profiled fighting game. They could of done that from before, like they did with the original game.
 
Brawl has quite a few reasons why it got a T rating

  • ZSS was a bit of "mature" content for a kids game
  • Tabbuu could give kids nightmares
There are some more reasons but these two were the ones that I thought of the most.

And I know Bayonetta falls under these conditions as well but DLC content have a separate rating from the game so Smash 4 stays at a solid E 10+
 
To more elaborate, melee had more violent sound effects, and their was actual spit when the characters were hit.

Brawl was rated T for the inclusion of a snake, rated M character, taboo causing frights and representing certain "demons", the sub space emissary as a whole, and ZSS at the time.

The reason why smash four is rated E 10+ was that it was made more as a child party game than anything else. There was no over sexualized character and has no sort of crazy shenanigans happening. Bayonetta can not be taken into account of this since she wasn't originally going to appear in the game, but she has now as dlc. Along with Ryu and Roy as well, their games are usually rated T.
 
ZSS too sexy? Umm . . . she looks normal to me. I probably was thinking of some other character. It isn't like there are any of those fighters in the series, like Mia from King of Fighters, or any of the girls from DOA.

Also, I don't think Tabuu isn't scary. Think of all of those last boss from the Kirby games, and you can see that he's fits the bill among them. Even the "humanoid" form of Master Core is just as "nightmare inducing" as Tabuu.

Well thats really a matter of opinion but when it got rated thats what the ESRB people saw.
 
So you're saying that they got too soft? Kids do mature too fast . . . or too many "suggestive" fanfics of game characters has changed the perspective towards anyone. Times do change, but I can't say if that one is leading towards positivity. Afterall, business has its own ethics.
 
Bayonetta is too sexy for sm4sh... Thats why
