advice?

I just got fire emblem awakening and I plan to just stay a black mage but my friends say I should go with assassin, does anyone have any suggestions about what class I should be

Hmmm... I chose to let my Avatar be Grandmaster with extra magic. What are the good things about black mage and assassin and what are the bad?

It all depends on what you chose for Asset and Flaw. In the long run it doesn't matter what class you go into because you can change out of it anyway. Assassin is a good class to go into to grab Lethality but it may not be one you want to stay in necessarily. Do you remember what your Asset and Flaw choices were?

It all depends on your preference. Just know that if you are playing on hard or above difficulty, you will have to reclass your characters a lot to get the best skills and also to maximize their stats.

In my opinion though, the Assassin is a great class. I played one on hard, and during the 2nd half of the game it had enough speed to hit twice and dodge every attack.
