Awhile back before Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks, I thought this:
What if the next DS game would have Link piloting a plane? Please post your opinion below.

A plane would be too sophisticated and modern to perhaps even 'fit' in a Legend of Zelda game It's kinda hard to picture Link flying around Hyrule in a plane since it doesn't comply with the era theme all LoZ games have. Trains might've been a bit slightly off, I'll admit, but it turned out better xD
Besides, I think that Skyward Sword already has a flying aspect

It would be interesting, I could see it working if they do either another dream based game where a bunch of things just don't fit (like Links Awakening with the Chain Chomps and other Mario items). So if they have a plane I can see it being a dream game where Link wakes up in the end.

Eh, doesn't fit with the whole ride-a-living-animal-like-a-Loftwing-or-Epona theme. Might be a little wonky to control, and besides, I can't imagine Link with an Aviator hat and a pair of goggles. Also, if they did that, for the general aspect of the game, it would most likely just be a Skyward Sword remake. But, that's just my opinion.

I think Link controlling a plane would be much too 'out of the ordinary' because he's old-fashioned, he rides a horse, a train (in spirit tracks) a boat (in Wind Waker) - a plane would be too modern for Link to comprehend. I can't just imagine Link saying 'hyaaaaah!' whilst doing plane tricks such as a loop-de-loop.
If he jumped out of a plane whilst being high in the sky, that would be pretty cool, but only if he had a parachute or something. xD

definitely no to a plane because of all the above mentioned reasons. However, what if it took a different form? Not a plane but something else a little older?

Hmm... I think that a plane seems somewhat out of place in the Zelda series, unless it had some sort of "ancient technology" feel to it or something of that sort. While it is an interesting concept, it was somewhat realized by the Loftwings in Skyward Sword. Although, Skyward Sword was far from exploration based...
