Just as it says, What does it mean that we'll be able to transfer the data from our 3ds to our new n3ds?

I know they haven't said it all about transferring data from your 3ds to your new 3ds, what kind of data would you be able to transfer? I mean, in my 3ds I have like four or five downloaded games so far, will I be able to transferr those games too?

I'm sure the system will be similar to the existing system between 3DSes. The only difference would be you can't transfer some N3DS exclusive to the old 3DS, like Xenoblade. You should be able to transfer your games with no problem :cat:

I once saw on a few other forums pictures of old 3DS data being sent to N3DS, so, no worry on it, you can transfer data between the two consoles. However, as @Spinnerweb pointed out, it's most likely that N3DS-only games can't be transferred to another legacy 3DS/2DS console due to compatibility issues.

One of the easiest ways is to transfer data using an sd card and a computer. really all you have to do is plug in an sd card from any 3ds and put it in your computer, copy everything and put it where you can find it, then put in a new sd card and just move all the files onto the new one.

That's for transferring data between SD cards, not 3DSes. :cat: The games are tagged to the console they were bought and downloaded on so if they're inserted into another system just like that they become unplayable.

There's a transfer tool for transferring games between 3DSes.

I did whatever I just said and it worked okay. There was actually a how to thingy on the Nintendo website. I must've accidentally done something right because it worked for me. Three cheers for messing stuff up and it just happening to work out in the end!:giggle: (I can't see what this one is so I picked it)

As @Spinnerweb said, it's for transferring data from a SD card to another, not transfer data between two different 3DS/2DS/N3DS systems. To transfer data between two 3DS system, you must use the transfer program available in the System Settings, as games are bound to the console on which transactions were made.

Oooooooooooooooooh. Welp I feel dumb now. Sorry for wasting your time.

During the Nintendo Direct, Reggie said that information to transfer the data from a 3DS to a N3DS will be released soon so if you are still unsure, you can just wait until the instructions are released. Better safe than sorry!

I was actually curious as to how the transfer process will work as well. On the 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS, you could just do a system transfer via the system settings, then put the SD card into the system you just transferred to and you'd be good, but now that the New 3DS uses Micro SD cards, how exactly will it work?

I'm assuming you'll need to copy all the data from your SD card and put it on your Micro SD using a computer, but they haven't really said.

Hopefully there will be some way all the 3ds data can be moved around to the new 3ds. They would probably let us transfer our friends list somehow too while increasing the amount you can have, if you couldn't do that it would be a pain

I was watching a video on YouTube about the New 3DS XL by a user called Blunty. I remember he said that you could wirelessly transfer all your content from a regular 3DS/3DS XL to a New 3DS/3DS XL without any problems. So, if any of you were worried about the Micro-SD card giving you problems, fret not.
