Any help with amiibo spamming?

So I got a New 3DS today, with that, I got the ability to use my amiibo. I was training my Lucina amiibo, and I got it all the way to Lv 50. It's good in combat, but it has the problem of using its Side Special too much, and not using its other moves as much. Any help? I already know about the whole 'punish it when it uses that move' bit.

That seems to be an issue with a lot of amiibos actually. My friend's Mario amiibo uses the cape a lot more than it should, and his Link keeps randomly Up Smashing. He said that if you did a team battle and put yourself on a team with it against another opponent and play like you would then it would learn a bit about how to act. I'm not sure if it really works but he said it helped.

If what np2015 suggests doesn't work, just reset your amiibo. It's not too hard (at least not for me) to get to Level 50 again, so it hopefully will help solve the issue.

(Please tell me if it doesn't work! I'd like to know what I did wrong)

I did the team thing, and they've stopped spamming. They've even picked up a few combos, er, sort of.
