Any lag during online play for slower Internet connections?

If you purchased Super Smash Bros. for 3DS today and have already tried out its online play over Wi-Fi, have you experienced any lag at all, especially if you have a slow Internet connection? (not dial-up, obviously).

I know I heard some talk that Wii U owners will experience some problems if they play Smash Bros. with a slow Internet connection (from the Direct I think) so I'm just a bit curious here,

I'm a little curious here too, especially for those who live in non-North America regions. I've heard reports of pre-launch saying it could get extremely laggy, but I've also seen shofu and theJwittz stream with little to no lag. Jwittz mentioned that it should be like Kid Icarus: Uprising, which ran completely lag-free for me (I have a decent internet connection, but connect only to people in the Asia servers)

I decided to get the 3DS version of the game and I played its online mode with a couple other members some minutes ago.

There is lag. I first noticed it when 3 of us were playing together and a lot of activity was on the screen. The worst is when 4 of us were playing together and that yellow PacMan entered the battlefield. Everyone got disconnected from the game.

The good news is, when that largish Nintendogs puppy appeared on the screen, no lag was present, :angelic:

Those are the only two times that I've experienced lag while I played btw. The first time wasn't that bad, tbh :/

Hmm, so it might work out pretty well then. For the most part anyway I think I would play with only one or two people online so it should turn out fine.

I haven't tried the online mode yet, but I think Nintendo should open European and NA servers to reduce the lag. Don't forget that we're still playing on Japanese servers, meaning that Japanese people have the advantage of 1) Having a faster connection (Yep, they have 5ms pings, let you guess at which speed they download), 2) Data transfer between client (game) and the server is faster for them than for us (Since we're farther).

Hope they fix it, though. I don't see myself playing SSB4 online with lag.

I remember reading an article saying they would. If I find it, I'll put it up, but I think it should happen soon.

Well, I've decided to try the For Fun mode (2-on-2), and it wasn't a really pleasant experience. I managed to win, but the lag was really severe, even causing the 3DS to freeze for 5-10 seconds and display the loading symbol, letting me think that I got disconnected.

On the other hand, it's really smooth when watching battles. Hope they do something about the lag, because I agree to the fact that it's near unplayable.
