i like mario kart 7 but personally i felt like it's my least favorite, i grew up off of mario kart 64 and it seemed like mario kart 7 had a weird feel to it to me and i dont know why XD

anyone else feel this way?

Of course it does. First of all the hardware is different. Second of all the team who made it (Retro Studios for MK7) is probably a little bit different from the people who worked on MK64 and I say little because of licensing and intellectual property sorts of stuff. MK7 is basically MKDS but without a few modes and appeals more to the Wii MK audience because of the way it's formatted to look and the functions the game holds. The game is certainly easy but there is a lot to collect and adapt to. First of all not everyone likes the controls on the 3DS but there is some excellent experimental 1st person viewpoint as well as an option to steer via the accelerometer (or maybe gyro but I doubt it) like in Face Raiders but mostly in a first person viewpoint which I could mildly disagree with. This game is also designed to play exactly like the newer Wii U version but without the HD graphics, tracks, and DLC jazz following the current Smash Bros. trend and also adding Amiibo functionality (plz bring it to MK7 or Pokémon XY/ORAS Nintendo ;~;).

But to the point MK7 is supposed to feel like you are driving an actual Go-Cart or up to date vehicle irl (like say that Mercedes Benz DLC for MK8) because it uses engineered stats for each kart mod and there are hidden stats listed on a wiki of the stats of the Kart pieces in terms of in the air or underwater. CC is like a professional speed rating. Slower speeds are less professional and the difficulty amps up as your reaction time is needed much more going a faster speed and the other racers race according to the track at hand and the game's knowledge of where the CPUs should be at certain times and also what or when they should be using their items and the probability of getting a certain item depending on your standings during the race. It's still similar but keep in mind SM64 made the Blue Shell because of hardware limitations.

Yeah, but comparing it to the most recent last game - Mario Kart DS - I thought it was even better. Snaking was lessened and I liked how the tighter your turn was, the faster you got a speed boost. So MK7 had a 'makes-sense' kind of upgrade difference. It's my personal favourite out of the series.

I despised Mario Kart 64, incidentally

lol yea i guess thats what i should expect from a completly different system

i like mk64 mostly because of the memorys, it was one of the first games i ever played, that and ssb 64 even when my cousins were tricking me into thinking i was playing (by putting the controllers plug in the dresser....lol), my personal favorite is mario kart double dash ^-^

When I first tried Mario Kart 7, I too, felt a little weird since I've played mostly Mario Kart DS and MK7 seemed to have a rather different controlling. Only with the newer added mechanics and such, it still felt like a Mario Kart game. It's something you'll eventually get used to though :p

I agree with @Bearidan for this one. MK 7 felt a bit different at first (maybe that's because I was playing the display one in GameStop >.>), but it had a better cast of characters than the first one. My personal favorite was either Queen Bee or the Wiggle thing :p

yea i played through the whole thing, started to go back for 3 stars on all cups then got mk8 and never picked it up again, i should try it again lol

Yes, or at least as far as I know Diddy Kong and Waluigi were left out of MK7 but you can make Miis of Diddy Kong and Waluigi so I guess Retro Studios thought the Mii would give the similar effect (plus Barrel Train Double Dash feels). I personally think it was smart of them to add Galaxy characters.

i think the kooplings in mk8 was a good idea but sometimes feels repetitive, there are alote of characters but it feels like they take up alote of the selection hehe...

I'm really not sure what you mean by different. Different from what exactly? I am pretty sure the game is suppose to play like Mario Kart Wii though, which is really what I like about it. Mario Kart DS wasn't exactly my favorite out of the Mario Kart games I played. Mario Kart 7 feels easier too play and the 150cc races don't feel brutal.

i think its mostly because the 3ds graphics and things i wasnt used to ,but idk the exact reason its a strange case for me... XD

but after replaying it i think i've seen the good sides of it again :p

I agree. Its really not that great, compared to all the other mario kart games, this one was not that great. It sure did introduced some new mechanics which were very small changes to mario kart. The tracks were short and very easy to master, it was also very easy to beat people online. If you are a newbie to mario kart ds, you will find out its not as good as mk ds

When I first played it with my friends, I noticed immediately that the drifting did not feel the same as before. The drifting had this sort of momentum that builds up after a while, and it ends up ruining the whole race for me. When you start to drift, it starts off nice and easy like in the past games, until the speed picks up if you continue to hold the button.

Yep, to me, drifting is an important part of Mario Kart since it helps you get around the sharp turns or curves in the tracks. If the drifting mechanic is off, it can cause you to crash alot, making you get far behind and eventually costing you the race (you will lose the race)

It is still possible to play Mario Kart without drifting at all, but the whole game will be very complicated for anyone who tries it. Drifting makes your life easier since you don't have to slow down you you can make the turn and avoid crashing into things, making you lose your time. Yep, drifting is life in Mario Kart.

Really? I found the drifting in MK7 to feel much nicer than in previous titles. Drifting in practically all the MK games prior to MK7 felt too slippery, but it's perfect in MK7. It feels very easy to control your drift by pulling the circle pad inside or outside and by tapping B if necessary. The physics in MK7 feel more natural than in any other game.

So true that it feels like Mario Kart 7 felt different. New feature of this installment is the hang gliding and underwater driving which allows racers to glide through the air and race in underwater sections of the new and old tracks. Kart customization is also introduced instead of racing in pre-made karts like previous titles. I can now use hang-gliders which can be useful for navigating through the air, and propellers to drive underwater. In addition, I may now assemble my own karts, rather than select preset karts as in previous games.
