Around december last year my battery started to swell up and it scared the crap out of me, and in my stupidity i kept playing with it and noticed the battery life was cut by significant time, It would only last 15minutes max and kept getting worse from there untill it wouldnt stay on for more than 30 sec and switched from red to blue constantly...(i forgot to mention my charger port was and still is broke so i rely on the cradel...) and after watching a video on a bloated battery blowing up i was so scared xD, It then started to make a popping sound and turn off when i left it on for TOO long >.<.

Eventually i ordered an nyko batter pack off amazon and when i arrived it was amazing it lasted like 9 hours the first day and i was free to play anywhere! Then i realized that the charging dock it came with sucked so bad and took over 9 hours to charge to max, this wouldnt be an issue if the charger port on my 3ds wasnt completely destroyed but it was, so for months i would have to stop playing acnl with my freinds because of this thing, eventually i ordered a new regular battery for 3ds (about last month)
and feel as free as when i bought the 3ds!

I want to hear some other story's of 3ds issues so please share! :D

I've never had battery problems with my small red 3ds. I actually think it was amazing on battery life! And then I met the new 3ds xl :D

Except for some sort-of significant loss of playtime basically from playing my 3ds a lot and having own it for more than two years or so approximately, it doesn't really have any other problems. Sometimes my 3ds does get really hot when I play for a long time but I never usually play to such extend because surely I'll get tired and rest at some point :p

I'm quite surprised your battery started making a popping sound as you described, how long did you play?!

This happened to my phone months ago. You let your 3DS overcharge too much. You should only charge it when you have to otherwise it will do that. Because of my dumb decision to try and remedy the situation myself, I ended up messing up my phone for nothing and it probably won't turn back on even if I got a new battery. As for the 3DS getting hot, I'd probably turn it off. I leave my 3DS on while listening to music when I go to sleep so the battery drains while I'm asleep. Shuts off somewhere around 6:00 in the morning.

I was addicted to acnl at that time so... lol

That sounds abo

I have never experienced my 3ds XL having battery issues, even though I have had it for about 2 years now. That's got to ve weird that your battery wouldn't last very long, and a 15 minute lifespan?! Wow, luckily you were able to replace that battery.

It was definitely strange, i had it for a year when it happened, It was just a battery malfunction hopefully

when you have the ds for a lond time and u play it a lot the battery will wear down.

@BonnetteForever The reason jr's battery has done that is because he overcharge it. It is not because he owned it for a long time as I had mine for about 3-4 years now and the battery is fine. It hasn't swelled up and it lasts for long. Like I said, I had a phone that I constantly charged day and night and the battery has done the same, swelled up and lasted less than half an hour.
