It kind of sucks knowing this but ARMS will no longer receive new content updates. Director Kosuke Yabuki has recently reconfirmed it in a conversation with Eurogamer :
Kosuke Yabuki said:
More Party Crash events are on the way, and we’ll continue to make balance adjustments and other small changes to improve the gaming experience, but we currently have no plans for bigger updates.

Because of our commitment to ongoing updates since launch, we feel we’ve reached a point where the strengths and weaknesses of fighters are generally balanced, making for some really exciting battles.

We will definitely continue to make balance adjustments, as well as run more Party Crash events. Everyone on the development team hopes that players over the world can enjoy ARMS for many years!
Were you satisfied with the amount of new content we got after the game's release?

Well I'm fine with this. I play the game a lot and never really had a problem with the roster, just wanted to see more gamemodes added. Which they did do but they were only available during party crashes. I hope they add skins and more stuff to spend my coins on though, because at this point I have TONS of them. They did say they still might make small changes so..

Well, to tell you the truth, I have just bought this game and I was astonished when It finished updating. I remember playing the beta and then watching some gameplay on YouTube of the released game and It really lacked the amount of content it has today! Even though, I have played it for just two matches, I think it has a great variety of content, it has a lot of new fighters which is something really cool as each one offers some twists in the gameplay experience. On the other hand, if you compare it to other nintendo ips like splatoon 2, it kind of bothers, because every month we are getting updates and the game is almost 9 months old. It is something really strange how they decide to support some games and some others not.

Anyway, I think we should be grateful for the amount of content we get from the game for free, let´s just take the case of Street fighter 5, you just got a roster of 10 fighters and then you have to pay for every new dlc carácter they launch.

Update 5.1 came out yesterday and they added new content. They were lying lmao

I guess you won´t believe me but yesterday I was Reading this post and posting that reply and at night, I started playing arms and all of a sudden the game stopped from launching because there was some content to be downloaded. So my question is: why did they say they say they were not going to keep updating the game?
Anyway, I am really glad they keep doing it, it gives the game some fresh air.

They did the exact same thing with splatoon. They told us they were done with content at 6 months and then they proceeded to add more content right after. I knew they would do the same thing here.

Also, it's not actually "no content updates" it's "no major content updates" as in no new characters. Content still being added just not in the form of a character.

This is pretty old news. The game wasn’t that good IMO so I’m ok with this decision. Splatoon has more replayability than this game.

Sorry but I can´t follow you when you say this is"old news", we are talking that the game has just been updated a couple of days ago, so how could this be old? I think you are missing the point in what replayability respects or maybe you have just played this game online, but let me tell you that this game is good for online play but it is much better if you play it locally with some Friends. On the other hand, splatoon shines when playing it online, which I am not blaming at all, I actually love it.

I don’t think people understand this:

ARMS will NO LONGER have content updates (This was known since late December) , but it will still have balance updates. I felt that the game was too stale and content outside of Online is pretty weak, which is why I said the game was lackluster, at least to me.

And when taking into account the replayabiliy of the game, you have to

Have interesting content
that doesn’t get repetitive in a short while.
Take Smash as an example, that game has lots of content and things to do making it more playable and Fun. ARMS’ modes are kind of repetitive and boring to me.

Community (if applicable)
Fast RMX is a great example of what went wrong with this. The community eventually died just as the Wii U version (Fast Neo) did.
Back to Smash, the community has tons of people and it keeps on growing. Melee has been around for over a decade now and it’s community keeps on growing. ARMS’ community is alright but not ideal.

and Overall Enjoyment
If you enjoyed a game, you’ll want to play it more. “If the game isn’t fun, why bother?” -Reggie
Fast RMX died for me mainly because of the learning curve. It was pretty annoying and with the other 2 factors above, I decided to stop. Now Rocket League is fun whether you’re good at it or not, mainly because the concept is fun, and that’s what games are supposed to be.

Point is, your cup of tea is different than mine. I didn’t really like the game but you did and I respect that. I probably should of elaborated on what I said. Hope this clears any confusion.

I was just about to tell you exactly the same, in this case I think it is a matter of what appeals to each one. What I do feel like answering is that you posted Smash as an example of something fun to play (which I absolutely agree) but let´s not forget that this franchise has a couple of years around players, on the other hand, ARMS is a really fresh and new franchise which could lead to what you feel about the game, no actual content, no good community support. I mean, now that I think about it, I clearly see your point, and let´s just hope the future turns brightier to ARMS!
