I've always wondered why everyone loves ash. Ya sure he has cool Pokemon but incase you haven't noticed but YOU CANT CATCH STARTERS.Plus, he hasn't beat a single one of the elite four or the Pokemon league in any of the regions. Also, he never got with Misty!

Yeah, Ash has proven himself to be an incompetent trainer on numerous occasions, I feel embarrassed to admit I had an Ash outfit as a kid with a hat and everything....I wish they made a Gary costume, because we all know he's the better trainer.

He somehow got 10 badges in Kanto, nuff said.

I think the reason they put Ash in that Position is to make it feel like you're him going on this Adventure with friends and stuff like that. However to make Ash a bit dumb again after every region is just to start a new beginning for the New Viewers. Also i think the reason they make Ash Lose at every Pokemon League against the elite four is just well.... maybe to keep making more Pokemon Games? I mean if he wins a Pokemon League against the elite four and the Champion, then it's kind of over in a sense. So why do that? when you can continue making more games and he keeps losing until maybe one day he will finally win and at that point it could be the final Pokemon game. It's just a crazy theory of mines lol xD

Remember, folks, he's only 10. He has accomplished more in his life than I have

But he's been 10 for the last 15 years....

Didn't' he finish the orange league or something? He won one of them right?
Still, Incompetent might as well be his middle name. Ash Incompetent Kechum. However his last name is spelled. >.>
He's rather bad as a Pokémon trainer. Even his Charizard knows this. :hilarious:

Well he's not a bad trainer, if you look at pikachus stats they're all quite rubbish except for its speed. If he can kill of a latias with it that's pretty darn good. But I get your point he is pretty bad I think he needs to go to trainer school and then actually try to WIN one of the leagues!

Characters from series are always timeless :p

Ash sucks for a series protagonist/main character. Trainer Red (from the Manga, right?) is a beast trainer and he kicks <censored>. He blow Ash out of the water with Hydro Blast. xD

I agree with this dude above^

Ash is a horrible main character.. I liked him in the first three series, but now he's just annoying.. I think by now he's suppose to beat a few Pokemon leagues, with all that "experience". But as Omega Caius said, not everyone will know him (like we do) from the Kanto region- now starting out. It's really just looking at the general audience, the're always the few new viewers, and would be a bit horrible if Ash was this amazing trainer, out of the blue (suddenly).

I see Ash as extremely incompetent and appears to think that Pikachu solves everything, also all the movies appear to be him just at the right place at the right time. what i think is that they should use the main characters from the actual games instead, then it makes more sense. I mean come on he can't just never age, unless Ho-oh gave him the power of being a child forever.
Also, Ash eats soup with a FORK

I liked the animated series back when Ash lost against almost every gym he faced. The show took itself way less seriously then, making it a lot more fun (anyone remember the metapod battle?). Now it's just kind of silly with Ash being plain annoying.

I wouldn't say EVERYBODY loves ash......except maybe me He is a pretty bad trainer, but he's saved places from mass destruction, the world from mass destruction a few times, and he's met a billion supposedly unmeetable pokemon.

I guess he's impressive?

i find it hard to believe that ash has met OVER 15! legendary pokemon and still hasnt tried to catch a single one in the manga practically EVERYONE end up with a legendary and what does ash have a PIKACHU!! and a team that somehow dissapears after each region
