I'm currently watching (and loving) the second seasons of each, and it's striking how different yet how similar both are. While Boku is unabashed in being a typical anime, and Shingeki is all on the mystery and what not, they're actually really similar in plot beats. It's just that Boku focusses on being happy while Shingeki is moody and dark (though both are great)
