So I beat the snot out of normal mode, had a little more trouble on hard, but it still wasn't too bad. Both on casual, but my thinking is "beat everything on casual mode, and then go back and try it on classic".

Trying Lunatic mode now? Holy crackers, it took me 2 weeks to get past southtown. This is just embarrassing.

Any tips for surviving the early portions of lunatic mode?

Frederick, don't worry about balance at first, just give Frederick your bronze sword and one of the lances.
Preserve your silver lance and use it only when it's absolutely necessary.

Don't be ashamed for having so much trouble, I always thought I was great at the game but I only got to the chapter where you reach Arena Ferox. >.>

Good Luck :D

Oh trust me, Frederick is seeing plenty of action. It's keeping everyone else from not dying which is harder. Especially chrom and robin in the early ones, I don't even know how I'll do this on classic eventually.

Also, later on, galeforce is always a godsend.

Later on it'll be easier, as I'll have ways to grind if needed. But these super early missions are beating the living daylights out of me before I can even get to that point.

pair your 2 mains with bulky chars and use other units to form a human wall. surrond archers to get a free kill and once you beat the first level grind the hell outta it

Make sure you pair up your best units so they can work together. Also make sure that Frederick is seeking the most action since he has raw stats at the beginning. And if you make it at a point in the game, make sure you have health drinks and make sure you use Hp, and other tonics if you can afford it. (Tonics are about 150 bucks)
