Ok, so I did some searching on how to earn badges on this site and just to be clear, that means beating someone like @Marc in a Pokemon battle, correct?

Yup (in a gym battle). You can find the other five gym leaders in the Pokemon League forum.

Each gym has its own rules. A special rule for my gym (as an example) is Kalos born Pokemon only. You can read up about each gym's rules in their respective gym thread (yellow prefix with the text, "PkMn Gym").
