For people who don't know what Ace COmbat is it is an aerial combat game that involves you flying a jet shooting down other jets to save the world from an evil organization. The Ace Combat series has been here from the PSX era, and is one of the most remarkable flight combat games ever made. (Note: Not a simulator, but an arcade combat game)
Recently, Bandai Namco announced that a new Ace ombat game will be coming out for the New 3DS in Japan, and it will feature Nintendo-themed aircraft skins.

Rookie pilots – at least in Japan – will soon be able to take to the skies once again, with Bandai Namco earlier this week announcing Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy Plus for 3DS in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine.

This new entry in the series is essentially an enhanced version of the 2012 3DS title, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy. The original 3DS debut for Ace Combat was known as Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble in Japan and was a remake of Ace Combat 2.

The latest aerial combat game will feature amiibo support; including the ability to scan in Nintendo characters as jet designs, and will also utilise the improved 3D and additional buttons on the New 3DS.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy Plus will be released in Japan on 29 January 2015. If it makes it across to the west, we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, tell us what you think about the Nintendo-themed fighter jet designs, and if this surprising news excites you for future amiibo support.
