So yea. What do you think of the bees? Do they freak you out? I have a panic attack when I see them so whenever I have to shake or chop down trees I either do it when I have guests or open my gate for local wireless (bees don't appear when your gate is open)

Like for the tarantula and scorpion, I have a few questions (just, like, 2 xD)

I think I only have 2 or 3 regular trees in my town. Everything else is either bamboo, or fruit/palm trees. Say you raided your fruit trees on the 1st of the month, they won't respawn until the 5th (unless native). During the 2nd-4th can bees appear in these trees (that don't have fruit)? According to a guide I think there can be up to 5 beehives in your town which makes it almost guarunteed they'll show up, and makes me paranoid......

The strategy I've heard to use for catching them is to run ahead as soon as the hive falls and ready your net from there. However, for whatever reason my character freezes until they start moving making it ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO EVEN MOVE AN INCH AWAY. I know this because I'm a button masher, and I've never been able to make it into a building EVEN IF I'M RIGHT NEXT TO ONE. Why the heck is this happening to me? ;-;

Bees do not appear in fruit trees, whether they have fruit in them or not.
Here is a little guide:
To guarantee a Bee capture, imagine the tree trunk is a clock and stand at the 10 o'clock position. You should be to the rear left of the tree. Shake the tree. If a Bee hive falls, hit the LEFT or RIGHT button on the D-pad to quickly equip the Bug Net -- you may want to press the button rapidly to assure you equip the net. Hit A as soon as you have the net in hand and you should bring the Bug Net down on the swarm of Bees. You will catch a Bee and avoid the stinger.

It might be kind of hard to do this method, but it will eventually work.

I believe for that method to work the net is the only tool that can be in your pockets otherwise you might accidentally get a shovel or something. I usually carry all 6 golden tolls (or just 4 of them) so I should remember to drop the others.

If I ever decide to try to catch them again I won't have to look for them at least :p

Although last time I tried to catch bees it was actually in the dream suite (good practice :p) so I just left immediately afterwards. Worst case scenario I save and reboot the game (and take a few minute break) :p

Here is my advice for the bees. I learned from a friend how to catch them, and it has always worked for me. You want to be able to run north and open up your pockets to equip your net that way. You will turn around and be able to see your person's face. Just make sure you run far enough to get some distance between you and the bees. Since you should be facing them(when they come at you), you can exit your inventory and then swing when they get close enough. Then, you have captured a bee! Make sure to go back and pick up the beehive to sell it.

Or, if you just give up, run into a nearby building that you know you can get into and then walk right back out. If you do get stung, you can go to the save menu and select 'Save and Continue'. The sting should disappear after that, so you don't need to waste your money on medicine.

But you can never get the beehives, money, or furniture from the fruit trees, only the regular ones.

Good luck on catching the bees!

I have another question. If the tree with the bees you're trying to catch is by the train station, can you go downtown or will they follow you?

They will follow you until you catch them or run into a building of some sort. You could probably run around for a bit and get them below you before running up north and catching them. I would usually just ditch the effort to catch them and run into the train station to stay safe.

I'm a wuss, I hate the bees and want nothing to do with them.

Ridiculous at 34 I think that way, but I am NOT a fan of bees, the other bugs I'm fine with, but I draw the line at bees.

XD i dont get scared from them, but i dislike having them come out. Also they only come in the trees that you plant with bells and the ones that you get from a sapling (not fruit). also when you catch them sometimes it does not work i think you can catch them 1 out of 3 times.

i used to buy medicines by the barrel full, then i tried running into villager houses (sucks when they weren't home). Getting made fun of by my citizens was very un mayor like... but after going through that for so long (and having caught one for the museum) I now simply save and continue to save my face from harm hahahaha. Take that you evil lil buzzers! Can't sting me if you no longer exist! (Actually now i just avoid trees cause once i started doing that i felt bad for the bees who's homes i knocked down...)

I run from them hate bees in real life and in game.. they leave marks on your face and the villagers are not to kind about it .. if I plan on shaking a tree I make a getaway plan o_O normally I can get into a house but if not I have the mark to show I messed with bees and lost ...

I only shake the trees beside my house so that I can run into my house if I fail to catch them. well actually I don't care if they sting me because I can easily save and go away XD.

@Yumi Chi Two things:

1. If you open your gate, bees will disappear. If you don't want anyone to disturb you, open local wireless
2. Save and continue is your key remedy

Not sure if you knew that already or not.

I knock down the hives, run to a home, then collect the hive and cash it in at Re-Tail. Of course I get the business end of a stinger sometimes, and I just keep the marks until I get medicine or stop playing the game for that moment.

I shake a lot of trees and get stung a lot. I think that more money should come out of trees and that you shouldn't get stung by bees. That would be so awesome. That is what I have to say about bees.

If you press X and open your menu the bees patiently wait till your done so a good strategy is to run north after you see the beehive and then go into the menu (it make you face down) then epuip your net, its an easy capture lol

Then sell that sucker to Reese for a sweet 2500 bells :D
3000 on Bell Boom Ordinance lol

I've never caught a bee because I've always just freaked out and gone into panic mode whenever I see them. :p I do almost always escape them by running into some building though. XD

The Bee's in AC are the bane of my existence, I hste how the music just suddenly goes quiet, and the bees go like 1000 mph for you and not any of the other villagers you see as you run from the bees, and the fact antidotes just randomly come on days kinda bugs me, but free Bells are nice but not worth those bee stings haha

I used to be scared of these in Wild World. In New Leaf, I don't think it is such a big deal. I've tried of catching one, but they are way too fast. Even keeping only the net in my inventory, it fails. However, it can be caught. You just need agility.
