I just started to play Monster Hunter 3 Ulitimate a few days ago (Wow! I should've gotten the game earlier, it was so darn fun!) and I'm starting to wonder which kind of Blademaster weapons I should use. I like using Dual Blades, I have Jaggid Shotels+, and Bone Blade+, and I like the Iron Katana as well. I basically like all the ones except the weaker sets that don't do much damage. Dual Blades are fast, and Great Swords are slow but do loads of damage. Any tips on which kind of weapon?

If you prefer fast then might as well as stay on dual blade( do note that it offers a short range ). You can tey using long sword. Master it and its dodges then you can almost anything(provided that you can land almost all spirit charges). I would recommend using switch axe as well(can be fast and slow at some times), and lastly sword and shield (aka status sword. Use this if you like fast attacks with good cover

there's actually no way to answer this since there's no best weapon in the game. it all depends on your play style :D i used the dual blades since they're usually the best weapons for using statuses.
they also make ceadeus much easier to fight :p

Of all of the weapons , I'd say that in my opinion , I think that the Dual Blades are the best . I've had much fun playing those and slicing enemies and generally they are very devastating :vamp: I haven't really played much of the other ones so I'd say the Dual Blades >:3

DBs were my main in 3U. That being said, go with whichever one feels more comfortable. The speed difference in the weapons does a pretty good job of evening out the damage.

Hmmm... Dual Blades it is! Also wondering if I should upgrade to the Ludroth Pair. I just got the Royal Ludroth in my Moga Woods.

I got the game too and I am about to finish it, I agree it is really fun. Anyway I have tried several weapons and to me the best ones are the gunlance (I just loved it because you can harm the monsters and you can take cover if the monster attacks you) and the switch axe, the latter one because is so powerful and you have a lot of different attacks with it.

I used to use dual blades ALL the time, but I realized that the pathetic range they have causes problems with a good portion of the monsters in 3U. Now I use a variety of weapons, like the switchaxe, which is fun because you feel like you have both speed and power. I most commonly use a combination of longsword and hunting horn, depending if I want to use impact or cutting damage. But you got to be careful with all three of the ones I use online, because they commonly can either trip people up (longsword), or cause them to go flying (switchaxe/hunting horn).

Ill probably use the switch axe and upgrade that as well.

I got 3U for Christmas and got about 21 hours in before I got caught back up in school again. I just picked it back up 2 days ago and have put in about 20 more hours! I've been using the Switch Axe the whole time, and I can tell you some great things about it:
1. It has two modes, Axe for heavy hitting and faster movement, and Sword for slicing and slower movement.
2. It makes you have to learn a monsters movements so you predict when it will attack and how. You will be dodging all the time.
3. It has some amazing range, being able to hit in front of you, on your sides, above you, and even slightly behind you! It can knock flying monsters out of the air, and is great for breaking different monsters heads easier.
The Switch Axe also has different abilities you need to use to your advantage. For the Axe, you will use X and directional inputs for most of your combos. Standing still and using X is how you hit above you, to hit heads and flying monsters. A and X when pressed at the same make you swing directly up. This is also helpful because after you swing directly up, you can continuously press A to swing it in a loop to get tons of hits, however this uses stamina.
The Sword can pretty much combo with A and X with ease. Pressing them together then pressing X continuously will stab the enemy and keep damages them until it explodes and puts you back in Axe mode.
Hope this helped! :D

You still at MH3U? Your like the only person that plays it anymore, every time I go online, no ones there, lol, probably because it's so old, Bet before MH4U came out, people were still playing 3. Also I have been using Dual Blades and Switch Axes a lot, but crafting the pesospander is really annoying judging how you had to get a strange beak which is only like a 5% chance you can get it from carving a Qurupeco (Did I spell it right?). Love the switch axe, cuz when you want to slash at the enemy repeatedly, just press R, switch! And slash away, best thing ever. Used the switch axe loads of times when killing the Great Baggi trying to get the Leaders Shotels. Also I haven't been playing a lot lately, but lol, it's summer, better get back into slaying the Rathian. Also, have you did it yet? I tried it and just fainted right after the first 5 min! I also got it recently, and I don't know anymore who plays MH3U anymore, everyone plays MH4u:(
