Still annoyed...
Towns Folk
I was wondering, is any of you expecting this game? I'm a bit curious but since I'm not a Dark Souls fan, I'm not quite sure I'd like it. However, what turned me away from Dark Souls was mostly the ambiance and the overall feeling of it, which seems different different in Bloodborne... Your opinion?

@Fyzzu might be able to help with that?

Honestly when I look at Dark Souls and then look at Bloodborne I can't tell the difference. I've never played Dark Souls but I'm interested in Bloodborne if only for the fact that it's a PS4 exclusive. Need to use the damn machine for more than indies and Advanced Warfare.

I'll probably end up getting it sooner or later.

I'm buying a PS4 for this ;/ That's primarily because it's From Software, though; I'm trying not to find out too much about it so I can go into it relatively blind.

I wouldn't go expecting the atmosphere to be too different from Demon's/Dark Souls. They were bleak, dark, and oppressive, and that's pretty much FromSoft's thing. The biggest difference will likely be the setting - it's very gothic Victorian rather than bleak fantasy. It's still the same sort of thing, insofar as it's a civilization brought to its knees by a plague (of sorts), but it looks more European horror in its monster design. Werewolves, and so on.

Gameplay-wise, it does look very Souls: difficult, unforgiving, and reliant on timing and positioning. More aggressive, though, with countering based on attacking enemies rather than timing your block. I'm still expecting a lot of careful and desperate progression, though.

I could (and would, happily) post about why I like Souls and what I think that means for Bloodborne, but I suppose that's a bit of a different topic...

Honestly the only reason why I want to get a PS4 in the future (Well, not really theres also KH3 lol)

If you're expecting a different ambiance and feel to the game, I dont think that will be the case. Seeing the gameplay/teasers/trailers, it won't be any different to the Souls games when it comes to that.

I think I'll wait for it to come out and look a couple of videos of it to make sure. It seems interesting but Dark Souls didn't really work well for me, didn't try the second one.

If you live in Denmark you can get it free by donating blood!

Wait what? Are you serious or you're trolling o_O

Dang! It's a nice promotion, and for a good cause!

So, I got Bloodborne.

This game is freaking amazing. I usually HATE games with darker tones, but something about Bloodborne keeps me coming back. The combat is fantastic, the enemies are intimidating, and overall it's just a great game. Story isn't as appealing to me as it may be to others, but I guess that's just me.

I didn't even think I'd really enjoy it all that much when I got it, so if you did think you'd like it, you'll probably love it.

I got it on release day actually, and like you, even if I don't like darker games usually, I'm having a blast with this one!

I got the game on release, but it'd be a lie if I said I didn't regret it. The mechanics of the game are really, really good, but that's about the only good I can take from the game. It's about as disappointing as Dark Souls II was. Maybe even more, because unlike Dark Souls II, Bloodborne does have really amazing controls/mechanics, but it's impossible to enjoy them with how terrible the PvE is (especially the bosses).

The online is just... god awful. I don't know why they thought this system was a good idea. 5-10 minutes to invade another player on a game that just released is absurd. Then when you do actually invade someone, you have to pray that you don't disconnect or have your game crash.

One of the things I was most interested in about the game were the Chalice Dungeons, but those things are probably the biggest disappointment for me in the game. They are just extremely bad.

Overall a huge disappointment for me. I was really hoping this game would bring back the magic that Dark Souls had. I thought for sure with Miyazaki back in charge of the project that there was no way this game could disappoint me, but unfortunately I was wrong.
