After 2 years, I'm Back!
Towns Folk
Hi guys MMMs here! :)

Today, I'll be talkin' about another one of my favorite Poke'mon and it's Breloom! :D

An early grass type pokemon in the Hoenn Region, next to Lotad, that seem to rise up in Smogon's OU list in late 4th Gen-5th Gen because he got a sweet new ability in 4th Gen and its Poison Heal! But in 5th Gen, he got a hidden Ability and its the almighty Technician!

For some folks that doesn't know about Poison Heal. It heals the Pokemon that has a poison status by 1/8 every turn.

Sounds neat huh?

Breloom@Poison Heal
Poison Heal
Jolly/Impish HP 252 Speed 252 Atk 4 or HP 252 Def 156 Speed 100
Item: Toxic Orb
Substitute
Drain Punch / Low Sweep
Spore
Leech Seed

We're using the SubSeed core in this one but with an attack that Grass Types are begging to have, Spore.
With spore, Breloom is safe to set up for a possible 2-4 turns (but there is a possibility of a 1 turn wake up). After setting a Sub+Leech Seed, you're ready to drain their lives with a Drain Punch. Sometimes even with a +Speed Nature and a full invested Speed EV, Breloom still seems to be out-sped by some pokes. In this situation, Low Sweep is the right attack for it!

Breloom@SubPunch
Poison Heal
Jolly/Adamant HP 4 Atk 252 Speed 252 or HP252 Atk 100 Def 156
Item: Toxic orb
Substitute
Focus Punch
Leech Seed / Bulk Up / Swords Dance
Spore / Protect

This set is a rather old one. This set is still being used since Gen 3 but with effect spore and leftovers. In Gen 4 This set became more popular because of its new ability, Poison Heal. Its simple to use, just hide inside a substitute then hit it with Focus Punch! It can also use a SubSeed core, Boost it's attack and defense with Bulk Up or Skyrocket it's attack with Swords Dance!

Another Ability is Technician. What it does is, If the pokemon's move has a base power of 60 or lower, it's Base Power will increase by 50%.

Breloom@SporeSweeper
Technician
Jolly/Adamant HP 4 Atk 252 Speed 252
Item:Life Orb
Swords Dance
Bullet Seed
Mach Punch
Spore

With Spore, Breloom will have at least 1 turn to use Swords Dance to set up for a +2 Atk which is usually all he ever needs to sweep and spam Mach Punch. Bullet Seed on the other hand will get a 37.5 Base Power for each hit because of Technician and it'll get more power from a +2 from Swords Dance. Between Jolly / Adamant. Jolly Nature can ensure Breloom can outspeed a lot of pokemon compared to Adamant for a Spore. On the other hand, Adamant can hit harder than Jolly Breloom and is more reliable for K.O.

Breloom@ChoiceBand
Technician
Jolly/Adamant HP 4 Atk 252 Speed 252
Item: Choice Band
Stone Miss (Edge lol)
Bullet Seed
Mach Punch
Low Sweep / Brick Break / Power-Up Punch

With this set, Spore, obviously, is taken out. This set focuses on its brute strength with it's wall breaking Attack stat and nice physical move pool. With Choice Band, Bullet Seed's Base Power goes way up! Especially because its a Multi-Strike move. Mach Punch can surely Knock Brittle pokemons out with its Technician + Choice Band Boosted Base Power! Stone Edge is for Coverage against Flying and Fire Types and The last Slot is for your own liking. Low Sweep lowers your opponent's speed so sweepers will have a hard time to sweep with Breloom lowering it (Priority Attacks is still a nuisance). Brick Break is for Breloom to hit hard and for Screens lol. Power-Up Punch still gets Technician boost with its 40 Base Power, rather than Low Sweep (65BP) and Brick Break(75BP), and acts as a Pseudo Swords Dance for each hit. So every time Breloom hits with PUPunch, it gets more powerful!

*One of Breloom's common counters is Trevenant as it's type completely counters Breloom. With a unique Grass and Ghost typing, Trevenant resists Breloom's Fighting attacks and walls its Grass attacks. With access to Will-o-wisp, Trevenant can cripple Breloom, assuming Breloom hasn't poisoned itself or inflicted by other statuses.*

Well I think I'm done right about here :)
See Ya Next Time Guys :D

Comments,Feedbacks and Corrections are pretty much appreciated :)

I think on the SubPunch set there needs to be more coverage because Focus Punch doesn't affect Ghost types (although I do like stat boosts it's best to play it safe). I don't have a Tech Breloom but I think they are becoming a less popular Pokemon because of Talonflame (the same with Heracross) but if you really wanted to use one, I'm sure you could work around its main weaknesses. Its typing is sad and it's now weak to Fairy too. D: Poor thing.

Actually, I have all 4 sets and have extra Shroomishes with Bullet seeds in my Box :)

To work around with, I always swap Breloom out with Ferrothorn when I predict Talon uses Priority Brave Bird then swap it out with another or use protect to recover some lost HP then swap it with a TTar then Pursuits it when I predict a switch or Rock slide it to put it out of its misery. It always K.O.s TFlame that way :)

As for fairies, my ParaFlinch Ferrothorn would get the job done :)
