Broken DS game cards?

I remember I had Dragon Quest 6 for my DS lite and got really far in the actual game, but a glitch (I guess you could say), prevented me from continuing. In coding terms, I believe the condition within a conditional loop could not be met.

I will be buying another copy, as it's a really good game, but it was still really frustrating considering I got so far. :(

Has anyone else had any problems with DS game cards?

I never had any problems regarding DS/3DS game cards, but that's strange, doesn't really looks like a coding error, i think.
Have you tried to clean the contact to check if it solves the problem? I believe that things like that can happen because of some type of hurdle on the contact. By the way, sounds sad, Dragon Quest 6 is an awesome game, totally worth buying it again if there is no other way out.

You guys are lucky compared to me...my dog chewed my games to pieces. They would be in their cases and up in a shelf that was high up but my dog managed to get the case and open them and steadily chew the game to oblivion.

Coming home I'd find my games in bits and pieces :(...

I did try again even after cleaning the contact, after trying pretty much everything yet again, I went out and bought another copy. I've been playing it non-stop, and have had no problems where I did in my other copy. It is a shame I had to start again though.

That's a shame, but then again, dogs do silly things. The most annoying thing my dog has ever done was once she managed to get my collectors edition Catwoman action figure still in it's box, chew through the box, and proceed to destroy the action figure within. That was a sad time, let me tell you. :(

So I can sorta sympathise.

I think that probably means that your dog doesn't really like cats, like, for real. hahahaha

I've never really had a case of a broken ds card. It's pretty rare that your card was probably defected. You should have returned it if the warrant was still active (if there was an option, assuming). My friend gave me a NSMB DS and its condition is really horrible but it still works good :p One time I was also glad that my Pkmn White still worked after I left it in my pocket only to get washed up :p the save ended up corrupted though xD

All my DS games are still in good condition, and they managed to survive a long time. They have been through some rough times, and still work. Only once have I had a game prevent me from continuing. It was my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Diamond. I was excited to play (I was about 7 or 8 back then) only to find the game freeze up the moment I choose Turtwig. Every single time. It didn't even matter which starter I choose, it would freeze. Luckily I bought another cartridge from Gamestop a few years back, and this one worked.

I've never accidentally broken a cart, nor has a ds cart glitched on me, but... I have had a gba game glitch on me repeatedly after the first 2 minutes of play each time I used it. In terms of pets, my cat has taken a liking to using my wallscrolls as scratching posts. Luckily, there have been no casualties so far.

As a kid,I used to have a Super Mario 64 DS cartridge that wouldn't often work, probably because it was a bit messed up in the inside as I noticed by shaking it a bit,and eventually,I recall it did open wide at some point, and when I tried to rebuild it,it wouldn't work(well,I was just a kid at that time :panda:).Luckily,my dad gave me another copy of the game, and it works much better than my previous one.
Nowadays though, there are a number of DS cartridges I have to blow in order to have accuracy in working incluiding New Super Mario Bros.,Mario Kart DS,Sonic Rush and some others. My Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll cartridge though looks like it doesn't work no mater what I do on it.Kind of sucks, sine there are times when I feel like playing it again for some memories(as frustrating as some of they were before :p).

What makes you think that?

There was a point in the game in which you had to wait about a minute while this character 'stared' for a character to fix a piece of legendary equipment, and if you pressed any button, the character wouldn't. But for me, the character would stare indefinitely.

Well for some reason, my Pokémon Black saved data was corrupted and nothing on the internet could help me, so a few months later, I chewed the game and broke it apart. I had done the same to Mario Kart 7 because the game was no longer reading even when I blew into the game card slot and wiped the game.

I never have got my ds card to destroyed by anyone and never will let it destroy.

My ds Nintendo ds card might be not broken but there was problem with my Nintendo ds that it don't use to read the card ,which was really annoying for me.

So after parents got me 3ds xl and later i got to know there was no problemwith dsbut card were defected.

Pretty terrible. Game cards usually are fairly easy to maintain, but once water is thrown onto it or the reader cracks, you are screwed. There are actually replacement cards you can get. All you do is open up the ds/3ds cartridge, get the green thingy, open up another ds cart, and then you put it in.
