once you beat your HR7 urgent(its a dalamadur btw) you will get another quest, along with your HR changing to a new number depending on how many hr points you have. every quest gives a certain amount of hr points, from something small like 25, all the way up to 1000+ on the hardest quests. you actually don't get into G rank until you beat the second quest, which (after talking to a few NPCs) gives you the G1 permit. advancing your hunter rank is as easy as completing any quests, while G rank still works like normal ranks until you get past G3, where it changes to be more like the hunter rank system. after G3, you get your first aged text, which you must decipher by beating some harder quests. every time you beat one of these quests, you will get a number of relic letters, depending on the quest and how long it took you to beat the quest (for example, the high rank dual G. Jaggi quest gives 1 if beaten in about 5 mins, while gogmazios can give 6 if beaten in about 15-20 mins.) depending on how many of these you have deciphered, you will have a different mark by your name. you start with a bronze crown, which changes to silver when you decipher at least half of the texts, which finally changes to gold when you decipher all of the texts. after getting the gold crown, all that rises is your hunter rank, which goes up to 999 (just a note, some people made a quest that gives an instant hr 999. if you see anyone with that rank who doesn't have at least a gold crown and 700+ hours, they're evil >.<) but that's about it for all the ranks and stuff! (my hands hurt now .-.)
