even today, i still don't got it at all, can someone tell me in a way i can get it, Kupo?

SpotPass is a part of the 3DS's connectivity (requires Internet, yeah) and allows the 3DS to automatically download stuff like notifications, StreetPass Mii Plaza content, now-discontinued Swapnotes, Miis from people you play multiplayer games with online, etc. I recall that software updates and small-size free DLC were also supposed to be included - in my case, software updates aren't confirmed, but I did often receive free DLC for Jump Trials Supreme through SpotPass.

Usually, if you put your 3DS in sleep mode, it'll download notifications (if any) from the eShop, games or apps and the LED will light up in blue which you'll be able to check by opening it up and checking any game or app with a blue dot on its icon.

Also, there's a Streetpass-through-SpotPass function in some games (Mario Kart 7 for example) in which you can, if you have StreetPass enabled, download Miis of people whom you play with in MK7 or any such game's multiplayer. You can't use those Miis in Puzzle Swap or Find Mii, but they'll still be in your Mii plaza.

It's wholly automatic, integrated into the 3DS. You only need a 3DS and an internet connection.

@Spinnerweb thank you for clarifying, Kupo, though i still don't really get it, i'll manage.

In an easy way: Nintendo give you "stuff" through the Internet. That's Spot Pass.

SpotPass is a feature of the 3ds that is just like StreetPass , but it is different in the way that you receive the content from Nintendo through the internet . It is very useful and so far many games support it so you can use it to receive notifications as well as in-game stuff . The notifications would be like Nintendo eshop updates and etc . It is very useful and though there is an option to disable it , it is better to have it on :cat:

That feature help you to get all important notifications to you which is very helpful you can know about new games get on eshop can know about all updates available for your Nintendo and tell you about sale on eshop .hope this help.

wait updates? that's no good... you should've told me in the first place, i need to let my 2DS off-to-date for a few weeks before i update it.... don't ask me why, just know that i do, and is more than enough, well, i might as well keep it disabled, Kupo-po...

I didn't know that updates/free DLC were automatically downloaded on some games? But like they've said, it's like facebook notifications that are mostly from the eShop. This is kinda handy if you're aiming for a sale. There are also special miis that you can get via spotpass -- they Shiny and Gold ones. :D I really love how they have ALL of the tiles in Puzzle Swap, so you should really choose the hard to get tiles (pink ones) from them.

I've never seen that special Mii on my Plaza '-'

It's worth mentioning that Spotpass just notifies you that there is a new update for your 2DS. Its still totally up to you if you want to apply the update or not. :)

I think I've got around 4-5 special Miis on my 3DS from Spotpass. Though, I didn't seem to get any downloads/extra features or in-game items at all. All I got are notifications that I met a special Mii and they showed up on my Plaza :/

Not all the games use spotpass, so maybe you were just unlucky with that.

Spotpass is something in the 3ds's system that helps you get free dlc and updates and stuff like that. Ex, when you check in to pokemon shuffle or animal crossing you can recieve free updates and some new dlc items as well.

Spotpass is what gives you the beautiful blue notification light on your 3ds. It sends you notifications of updates on your 3ds, bringing special miis into your mii plaza and also some items and cool stuff in other games
